Re: To recite the seven line prayer together within 3 months from 15th,December,2023

A rough calculation suggesrs that if he has two hundred.thousand followers committed enough to manage ten hours a day on the core recitation of.the seven lines it might just get done in three months.
This does not appear to have been fully thought through.

Re: pointing out instruction, direct introduction

Dear dharma friends, if term ngo sprod, is translated as pointing out instruction, where is the "empowerment" aspect of this process? Can one be introduced only by means of pointing out instructions, without dzogchen master giving empowerment of energy of rigpa, (rigpe cel wang)? Technica...

This is false. The wall thing is a misunderstanding. He faced his own face, the nature of mind. And you know this because...? Not that chan/zen is either my thing or this forum's thing, but I have to ask. Because he was a Mahasiddha in the Vajrayana tradition. HH Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche told me t...

Re: Karma Thinley

Can anyone translate this name for me. When I was a child about 50 years ago the 16th Karmapa did but I have forgotten . Karma means, well, karma, and most people who took refuge through Karma Kagyu teachers have it as the first part of their refuge name. Thinley is activity, as in the body, speech...

Re: new platform of ex-Diamondway found in Germany

The similarities between Ole and Trungpa seem to me rather obvious. Of course, they had origins as different as could be, and Trungpa was evidently quite clever in his younger days, Ole perhaps less so. But: Both built followings on a foundation of charisma, followings that revolved largely around t...

Re: new platform of ex-Diamondway found in Germany

The 16th Karmapa had confidence in him, that's enough to me. :) I'm European. Argument from authority doesn't cut much ice. Argument from infallibility, even less. Of course it's fine to hold that view in your own heart. But devotion, however deep, doesn't mean we have to be blind to our teachers' ...

Malcolm's opinion is often worth hearing, but without concrete examples or sources it's just another story.

Re: What is the meaning of this red belt?

It is indeed a meditation belt. You can use one just as a sitting aid. They are important for certain yogic exercises associated with breath control, in which case rhe pattern of stripes and other features has special, sacred significance, and is specified in the commentarial tradition of the partic...

Re: Electronic empowerments

If it exists, telepathy is not "on top of" dependent origination, just part of it like sunlight, electricity, gravity, love or hate.

Re: Electronic empowerments

What I AM saying is that their position is only coherent (whether right or wrong) if THEY accept this quasi-telepathic influence. Not at all. Empowerments depend on interdependent origination, not telepathy, so this is moot. I've seen this argument before, but while it is not actually false, it mea...

Barely. In my opinion.

Re: Electronic empowerments

So you think blessings are some kind of phyisical energy that must travel through space and reach the student? Or did I miss understood? I'm not taking a position on that. The idea that you (correctly, imho) extract from this thinking arises because of the need the pro-electronic people have to cla...

Electronic empowerments

Those of us (not I) who have confidence in electronic empowerments are going to have an interesting time in the next few years. I’m going to make the assumption that AI will continue to develop over the next few years as fast as it has done in the last few. The contact of a student with an empowerin...
