Re: Dharani accomplishment question

I would be honestly quite interested if anyone here did a ritual connected with a dhatani and received the results. Mostly as I too just like OP find the rituals rather impossible to do at least nowadays. Unless someone knows about a "doable one". Hi, Not on a speed race, but with prolong...

Re: Dharani accomplishment question

Speedy, but is that enough to reach for eg 1000 repetition per hour? Does the vocalisation always needed to the accomplishment?

Re: Dharani accomplishment question

A good idea. In the meantime I have been thinking about other possible solutions, like speeding up and somehow merging with the breath or heartbeat. Maybe at extreme speed they become or subsume into some kind of single syllable or a humming sound. Is it OK to 'read' them silently? I think without v...

Dharani accomplishment question

Usually the accomplisment rituals prescribe many thousand recitation for the given dharani in a relatively short time window. How it works in the case of the longer ones? How sy can recite so many repetitions?

Re: Is it okay to eat meat & be in an unclean place while reciting the 21 Taras praises?

Dawn. That is why for example, when we take one day vows (posadha), they expire at dawn. The interval from dawn to dawn is the interval we consider to be a "day." Is it some kind of astrological change or solar power or the dawn simply sign the expiration time? A solar day lasts from dawn...

Re: Meat Eating Mantras

The ones mentioned already praised vegetarianism even without modern farming methods. Not really. Patrul called into question the whole of the food production system, including agriculture, as one massive exercise in cruelty. But people do not read carefully nor in context. The context of this pass...

Thanks for the answers. Settled with the commonly occuring entoptic phenomena solution. Now, after reading the follow-up discussion I'm curious how far goes into the tregchod territory Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche's 'The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones'?

Re: Is it okay to eat meat & be in an unclean place while reciting the 21 Taras praises?

How this time-related cleanliness thing works? Even when I was a kid and saw the first 'Gremlins' movie I didn't understand the "Don't feed the mogwai after midnight" rule. It's always after midnight... So, what makes someone ritually(?) clean for the morning after gobbling up a hearty mu...

Natural thogal?

Tashi delek to all of you, During our recent casual breakfast conversation with my (non-buddhist) partner popped up the topic of concentration development in the case of attention deficient people. Out of the blue she began to talk about her childhood playing with the sun and light. It seems to me t...

Re: Correct sanskrit pronunciation

Hi, Could someone please point out to me where can I find an audio recording for the Tibetan long Namgyalma (Ushnisha Vijaya) dharani's back-translated(?) and most closely correct (if there is such a thing) Sanskrit version? For reference here is the long variety that I have found and tried to chan...

Re: Does Phowa practice have an Indian Buddhism root?

Case in point: HHDL has worshiped the Shiva lingam alongside Hindus and, as Ian Baker points out, Chatral Rinpoche had a huge interest in Shaiva practices and said "We are all Shiva Bhaktas." A bit off topic, but I'm not so sure whether a Chakrasamvara and/or Yamantaka practitioner could ...

Re: Nyingma Herukas and their depiction

Actually, it is more correct to say that Sarma Herukas, like Samvara, Hevajra, Mahamaya, Kalacakra, etc. are multivalent —emotionally. They expresses multiple attitudes simultaneously. Bliss, compassionate gaze, wrath, haughty pride, and peace…all at once. It’s the same or similar in Nyingma. Wrath...

Re: Manjushri Nagaraksha

While Mañjuśrī Nāgarakṣa does not seem to be part of the Drikungpas' collection of fifty jenangs, I notice that its volume includes separately a Nāgarakṣa sādhana in addition to the collection of fifty. So, it might be worthwhile asking around among the Drikungpa Lamas, there's a chance the practic...

Manjushri Nagaraksha

I was just wondering if you could help me with the relevant information for the practice of this yidam. I am especially interested in finding out more about the current availability of the connected empowerment(s) and Lamas who are proficient in this deity.
