Re: Are Oysters Sentient? (Split from Giving up Masturbation)
Sakya Pandita from the book Ordinary wisdom "People with some learning but no merit Destroy themselves with their knowledge Oysters forfeit their lives Because of the pearls to which they cling" Team oysters are sentient, Patrul rinpoche, Sapan, Check. Neither Sapan nor Patrul R ever saw ...

Re: Lama Lena Testimonies/Credentials
At best, you received a positive trace for meeting the teachings in a future life. I wouldn't underestimate this though. Dharma seeds can ripen in very unexpected ways, and they do not necessarily depend on the disciple being diligent, committed etc at the time of them being given/planted. I owe a ...

Re: How is shentong different from tirthika doctrine
But these are just sayings, assertions and beliefs. None is satisfactory, according to mahamudra, dzogchen, shentong, rangtong, or advaita vedanta. All agree that the yogic realisation exceeds such conceptual or semantic or rational approaches. So that leaves us the with basic possibility of gettin...

Re: Chod Damaru tail
Because I was one of my Teacher's shabjis (close attendants), I was able to find a hair from my Teacher's wife which for me qualifies as a Dakini's hair. That was five decades ago. More recently I was able to find a hair from Chatral Rinpoche's Sangyum (Sangyum Kamala) after She stayed with us whic...

To expand on Dharmaswede's post, can be strip of tiger on one side and leopard on the other, an iron ring above the conch disc, and the Dakini hair can mean hair from a prostitute. Or some say, hair from a prostitute on one side and hair from a Dakini on the other. Have also heard hair from a Dakin...

Re: Qualifications for Wrathful Activity
If Hitler was possessed by some very powerful entity, not so easy to stop him. Same with Mussolini, Stalin, Pol Pot. Same with Trump. It would take even greater power. Let's not kid ourselves, most of us do not have that kind of power. We're talking complete experience of oneself as the Deity, not ...

Re: Prophecy of Padmasambhava in the Nirvana Sutra
This is not just an exaggerated praise tenaciously offered by old ignorant followers of the Nyingma School; Padmakara was foretold by Buddha When reaching maturity, he wanted to leave in order to practice the Dharma, but his parents did not permit him to do so. Unable to find any other way, he saw ...

Re: Prophecy of Padmasambhava in the Nirvana Sutra
I’ve seen this quoted so many times so I looked into it, and haven’t discovered a specific source in the Mahaparinirvana sutra yet, however apparently there’s multiple sutra and Tantra sources of prophecy. Here is an excerpt from Tsele Natsok Rangdröl per Erik Pema Kunsang This is not just an exagge...

Re: Join the Seven-Line Prayer global accumulation: a powerful method to heal our world.
A recent urgent message from His Eminence Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche, which emphasizes why accumulating the Seven-Line Prayer is so necessary right now: *Advice and Prophecy from Our Guru and Dharma Protector* With Bhutan’s recent move to declare the country in lock-down and travel ban, Rinpoche also w...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?
Oh dear, I didn't mean to cause confusion. I was just thinking that every day I light a 15-hour votive candle in a glass candle holder. Recently I started to buy ones made in Vietnam. About 5% of the time, the candle goes out some time during the night. So the next morning I relight the candle in o...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
There are two parts to this: Kongtrul’s gdams sngag mdzod klong sde instructions, Rinpoche’s own visionary teachings. It’s not hard to find people who received both from the boss. Have you? Myself and many others. Yes though not many others are actively teaching and offering lungs... ;)

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?
For those to whom it’s of interest/relevance, Lama Zopa Rinpoche directly says here that “candles that have already been lit but were extinguished before they were completely burnt can be re-lit and used again”. He also offers a mantra for purifying the act of taking food and water offerings for yo...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?
Of course, if we have to put a candle or lamp out that we have offered, then we do what we need to do. But then we can't offer it again. ABO. I don’t agree with this interpretation. It’s one view. Anyone who holds that view (I.e. it’s already been offered, so it’s spent) should follow your advice. ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Considering ChNN’s own experience with his gurus, the origins of the Longsal, and his activity in the dreams of his students, let’s not write off the possibility that he may clarify things within dreams at appropriate times to senior disciples..

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
When Yeshi says no one is authorized to give DI he is contradicting ChNN’s own written official statement on this. That clearly states both his son and daughter are authorized to give everything if they want to. He disputes it. According to his reading, the letter states that he and Yuchen can &quo...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?
Adamantine. Of course, you do what your Teacher tells you to do. If the Khenpo Brothers are your Teachers, then, absolutely you should follow Their teachings. For me, I have never, ever seen any of my Teachers in the U.S., Nepal, India, or Tibet put out an offering lamp. Move it somewhere safe, yes...
