Re: From a Namdrol post: socialism/capitalism

Have you been to India? Although it defeats my argument since India IS a democratic and capitalist country, the state of Indian poor would probably boggle your mind. Absolutely boggle your mind. People starve to death on the streets, atleast the last time I went. Your American poor typically have hou...

Re: From a Namdrol post: socialism/capitalism

I don't care about "global capitalist hegemony" as long as American quality of life is WAY better than China. Actually can't believe Namdrol is defending the Chinese Comunist Model, since he knows very well what they did to the Dalai Lama. i don't know if he was defending the chinnese model...leave...

It is a physical structure in the human body. In general, the central channel can be considered the entire arterial system.

What would be the corresponding Western medical term?

Re: Jesus, a Buddhist?

I am reading an interesting book on the subject, not that Jesus was a Buddhist, but Jesus was a Pagan God patterned after the Osiris-Dionysus myths: The Jesus Mysteries . Perhaps there was no real Christ, but that even the teachings have been borrowed as some authors have suggested. Ok regarding th...

Re: Jesus, a Buddhist?

If Jesus did not teach dependent origination, he is NOT a buddhist. Dependent origination is the main teaching shared from Theravada to Dzogchen.

GAME OVER. END OF THREAD.

Re: Jesus, a Buddhist?

1. The only key point of buddhism shared by EVERY school is dependent origination. Did Jesus teach dependent origination?

2. Gospels were written in Greek. Christianity could have been influenced by Greco-Buddhism.

I am confused :crying:
According to general Vajrayāna teachings, Buddhahood, still occurs in Akanistha via a mental body.

Re: Rainbow Body Misconception

Dzogchen describes two states of final Buddhahood: abhisambodhi and samyaksambodhi. The former is with residue, the latter without residue. The latter turns Mahāyāna buddhology on its head again, by asserting there is an abiding Buddhahood as opposed to the common Mahāyāna ideal of non-abiding Budd...

Re: Rainbow Body Misconception

According to Vajrayana, no one has ever achieved Buddhahood any place on Earth or any place else, nor will they ever. If one is to say it's attained anywhere, it's Akanistha. Now this is an embarrassingly wrong statement Maybe he meant sutrayana No, Indian Vajrayāna more or less follows sutra in te...

Namdrol, You agree with the part where he said "So far there is no human who has become Buddha on Earth" ??? Or are you simply saying that is the view of sutrayana? I am saying this is the view of sutrayāna cf. Lanka-avatyara sutra, to paraphrase "The real Buddha attains full awakening in Akanistha...

Re: Rainbow Body Misconception

So far there is no human who has become Buddha on Earth. In other words, what human can achieve is Arhat (level of attainment) and an Arhat with vows to help other sentient beings is known as a Bodhisattva, and this Bodhisattva will continue the work to become Buddha. This is 100% wrong. You are gr...

I haven't heard that the so called common Mahayana schools admitted they're incapable of producing buddhas. But if you have references for that please show them. Rainbow Body Misconception

Rainbow body occurs whenever a physical human gains Buddhahood on PHYSICAL EARTH (as opposed to in the bardo, in various heavens etc.) That person's mind becomes the dharmakaya That person's physical body becomes a Sambhogakāya The problem with sutra (including proper ZEN), is that one cannot achiev...
