Re: Guru Yoga empowerment for Padmasambhava

Forgive me. I thought this might be of interest to the person looking for an online Guru Rinpoche empowerment. Perhaps you can see the source of my confusion.
You are right though, they didn’t specify wrathful or peaceful, sitting or standing. I’m sorry that this troubled you.

Re: Guru Yoga empowerment for Padmasambhava

Garchen Rinpoche will be giving the Tsewang Dzinpa empowerment later this month online, and that’s very definitely a wrathful guru practice.

Such a wonderful practice, and a wonderful protector. Sent you a PM.

I was taught it’s waist high from standing position. It’s for respect and honoring the Buddha, etc.

Re: Need Help To Identify The Guardian Diety

I believe that’s the deity Kangchenjunga, associated with the mountain of the same name. He resembles pictures I’ve seen, and that would match up location wise with Sikkim.

Seems like a hat worn by people during a drubchen, but I’m sure there’s a more specific answer.

That’s a wonderful book, but unrelated to the Sakya phurba lineage.

Re: Vajrakilaya Empowerment

Check with Sakya Monastery in Seattle, WA (www.sakya.org). They produced a short two page text for the Khön Vajrakilaya when HH Dagchen Sakya Rinpoche gave the initiation a few years ago. If they’re not able to provide it, PM me and I’ll help.

Re: Chogyam Trungpa's The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma

Rinpoche’s books are unimpeachable. They can be enjoyed and learned from without any concern. I doubt I would have enjoyed being his student, but his books are unlike most.

Re: Dagpo Kagyu empowerments

Tobes is correct. If I recall correctly, Sakya Pandita was mainly concerned that the Vajravarahi initiation was being given to people who had not received a two day major empowerment prior. I’m not even sure how much this happened in actual practice in Tibet, because I would imagine that most Kagyu ...

Re: Garchen Bernakchen Sadhana

Hmm, something’s maybe fishy here. I suppose there are many ways of understanding but I was always taught that Dorje Bernagchen was not an manifestation of Avalokiteshvara. Is it possible that Garchen Rinpoche was giving a different empowerment and some well meaning disciple just put some accidental...

Re: Local Protectors

Yeah I remember seeing this too. Now I might be completely wrong or misheard (this was some years back...), but I was under the impression that Guan Gong was even identified with a local protector from Tsurphu. I do know that the short text from His Holiness is available to Chinese students, I've al...

I don't know exactly but I recall hearing that HH Karmapa had some pure vision of Guan Gong and wrote a short offering to him as a Dharma protector.

Re: Hey from Wyoming

I lived in Jackson for a summer (dunno if that counts as living in Wyoming haha) and it seems like every summer, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche and other Lamas from Tulku Urgyen's family and lineage pass through there. Though I know it's a huge state, and if you're hours away from Jackson,...

Re: Kamtsang Chöd Lüjin - How to Open the Sky Door?

Something I thought of later, is that Lama Karma Drodul, Rinpoche's nephew, is very accessible if you know where to find him on Facebook or email. He has always been very helpful to me answering questions, and you can rest assured that his words carry Khenpo Karthar's intentions.

Re: Kamtsang Chöd Lüjin - How to Open the Sky Door?

Cone is absolutely right. I should have added that this is one example of a practice that every Kamtsang lama I've met that requires wang , lung and tri.
