Ready for sadhanas?

I was wondering whats the usual prerequisites before starting doing sadhanas. How much shine practice is needed? Is ngondro a requisite? Is there such a thing as "rushing into ngondro"? What was your experience?

Sorry about my ignorance, and thank you in advance.

Re: theravadabuddhist doesnt get real enlightenment

According to the previous Kalu Rinpoche the hinayana path doesnt get full complete enlighments because they don't fully attain the realization of shunyata. The shravaka path leads to the realization of emptiness of self but not of all phenomena, resulting in arhatship. The pratyekabuddha path leads ...

Blessings

Could someone elaborate on the concept of blessings from an intellectual and a personal experience point of view?

I'm struggling to understand how they work and i cant seem to find any good material about it.

Thanks

Re: Why not Theravada

Hi TaTa, It wasn't my intention to say that a non sutta path is the best. Is of my understanding that there is a lot of sutta study in the kagyu linage (the one im working on). I just wanted to say that when i discuss dharma with theravada practicioners i usually get that kind of response. Sutta qu...

Re: Why not Theravada

I dont know much but I've noticed that theravada practitioners rely more on scriptures to "justify" or give credibility to what they think is correct instead of logic and experience.(of curse im generalizing, not to offend anyone). Besides that i really like theravada and I intend to study it more ...

Re: Shine: One objet or many?

Since I've started meditating i have always stayed with the breath, except maybe some mantras. I'm now trying to use other objects every now and then because i think it will help with my "non sitting" practice. What do you think is better, to stay with one objet or to try many? I think that if you ...

Some schools teach a series of movements (mostly stretching & self-massage) for after meditation. Tendai is one. Thank's. I'll try to search for th...
