Re: Silent Illumination
Why don't you connect with some students of Master Sheng Yen online? There is Guo Gu and also Ven. Guo Yuan in the US who practice Silent Illumination. I am still reading the book Method of no Method, slowly, to study it. ... I agree. Practice as you read it carefully. There’s a lot there. Some of ...

Gamma wave meditation
It seems that some meditation practices will accelerate the brain (gamma waves for example) while other practices will slow down (theta waves).
What do you know about that? Which practices will produce what?
Thanks

Re: Books about miraculous things on Tibetan Buddhism
I am reading the Miraculous 16th Karmapa. Indeed, very interesting! Altought I dont have a way to confirm if the stories are real or not, I believe on them. I suppose that many of the witnesses are honest and just telling the things they really saw happening. I am in the early chapters, I ant to rea...

Re: A dream
I realized that many dreams I have are just silly nonsense filled with expectations, fears, desires and things that happened in the last few days. Only sometimes I have dreams about specific things that happen in the next day. I also have other attitude towards symbolics dreams: if I don get the mea...

Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands
Its difficult to unify Sukhavati idea with big bang and so on. If we accept that Sukahavati is real, that means (for me) that it is in other dimension, out of this physical Universe.

Re: Heavens/Hells/Purelands
I think that altought Sukhavati cannot be reached be physical means, that doesnt mean that Sukhavati is not real or less "physical" than our reality. Its a question of karma, I mean its a question of having the lucid and peaceful qualities that will lead you to reborn in a place that reall...

Pure Land - Some Doubts and Weak Faith
Sometimes my faith is weak and I have doubts of Pure Land teachings...are they real? Buddha did not teach such things. Others did. Its easy to imagine somewhere (some centurys ago), an abbot or a monk, seeing people lacking in faith, decide to create the Pure Land teachings. And thats it, we have th...

Re: Sogyal Rinpoche - sexual abuse against women?
The fetishization of "enlightenment" by "students" is a greater obstacle than unethical conduct of "teachers." The former almost certainly leads to the latter. Both are bad, but in the case of Sogyal, if it is true the sexual abuse, then thats even worst than anything ...
