Re: Bönpo Guru Rinpoche
This is just a variant of the Gelug myth there was two Padmasambhavas, one bad, one good. Well do you maybe think there was only one Guru Rinpoche ? Or that both were ok maybe? I think there was one Guru Rinpoche, and there are three different versions of his bio: the Nyingma version, the Indian ve...

Re: Bönpo Guru Rinpoche
Sorry this i cannot follow....... Maybe you could say this easier ? If you always take hagiographies literally, and in this case assume that the "Bonpo" he was having his magical battle against must mean the Yungdrung Bon. Not saying that people should turn into western-style text critics...

Re: Meditating on the Kleshas
Benefiting beings implies that they can discriminate subject and object, since those beings are object, and the buddha themselves are subject AFAIK this is incorrect from a doctrinal standpoint, to nearly any Mahayana school..a Buddha doesn't "think" in the way a sentient being does, and ...

Re: Bönpo Guru Rinpoche
The painful fact is here that the new Guru Rinpoche was NOT so kind to Bon, nevertheless he could be or is the Nature of the 3 Kayas. Therefore we know in Bon a sympathic and a non so sympathic Guru Rinpoche. It is maybe accidental that both have the same name? I guess that's true if you're unable ...

Re: Bönpo Guru Rinpoche
....that Guru Rinpoche has emanated as Tapiritsa! This claim can be found in the Short Biography of Padmasambhava in volume 1 of his Rinchen Terdzo: Thank you for this example of sectarianism in Guru Rinpoche stories. I'll add it to my long list. Well that fact is not known to the Bonpos until now....

Re: Meditating on the Kleshas
It's true they do not give rise to conceptual consciousnesses, their cognition is always directly with their meditative equipoise Think about the bodhichitta in general though, it's a main mind, don't you think it "wants" to free others from suffering? Don't buddhas delight in seeing othe...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
The list of lungs Magnus posted was given on sunday. But from what i understand you only attended the specific WWT which was given Friday night or Saturday morning. In this case if you want to receive all the practices contained in the tun book (http://shangshung.org/store/index.php?main_page=produc...

Yes you require lung but this lung was included in the tun lung. I don't understand what that is, exactly. All I have watched is the last 4 or so world wide transmissions. Re: The Nature of Language
In Dzogchen by my understanding, as well as by Buddhism in general, dualism began -way- before language..and continues to persist all over despite a complete lack of language - with animals for instance. Dzogchen cosmology goes into detail on how it arose - something like karma left over from a pre...

Re: The Nature of Language
>Language is, by its very nature, dualistic. Language (talked and thought) is the origin of dualism in mind. In a sense, although if we want to be pedants—as many around here including myself like to be from time to time — we must acknowledge that Dzogchen is quite specific when it comes to how ign...

Re: The Nature of Language
If anything language (inner and outer) sits on a more intricate "evolved" layer of dualistic experience and conceptual thinking. Even the most subtle impulses, instincts, habits, and proto-somethings that solidify a subject-object are dualism..The basic atavism that defines sentient existe...

Re: The continuation between births
The Buddha often avoided a lot of discourse about "selves that transcend the immediate self", which leads to the famous eternalism/annihilism discourse. Is trying to conceptualize and understand the precise nature of the continuity from one birth to another just an example of most likely ...

Re: Meditating on the Kleshas
Functioning spontaneously doesn't imply that you function without cognition accompanied by feeling, intention, etc Buddhas don't have "desire", referring to a particular mental affliction/type of mind, but they sure do have "desire", referring to a main mind that wants something...

Re: Material to read before ChNN transmission on Friday?
This list of lungs that Magnus posted is pretty much the standard with every webcast . When? I have only done the DI's in the past, where do the lungs fit in relation to that? Thanks Magnus! If you did the WWT of Garab Dorje which was earlier this year, I believe he usually gives the lung transmiss...

Re: Material to read before ChNN transmission on Friday?
If the webcast is open for the public that means that anybody can participate regardless of whether they are members of DC or not. During these webcasts rinpoche gives a variety of lungs so they are given to everybody without restrictions. So what about the ones that are being mentioned for this we...

Re: Material to read before ChNN transmission on Friday?
So what about the ones that are being mentioned for this weekend? I cannot find these listed anywhere. They usually aren't. During the first few webcasts I had attended, I took notes of the transmitted mantras so I won't forget which practices we were given. I can't even find the time for them on t...
