I've not come across it, and just checked the Teachings on the Thun and Ganapuja book. If he hasn't perhaps use the 'Local Guardians of Place and Time'?Ignorant_Fool wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 2:20 pm Has Rinpoche ever mentioned who the guardians in the African continent are?

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!
Ah, you see, I did a fair amount of Googling and decided Greg was making a funny with "LOTR" ("Lord of the Rings"), but it looks like it's an actual empowerment or teacher or what have you. The overly dramatic text above is adapted from Galadriel's lament over Gandalf's death. Lopon Ogyan Tanzin Ri...

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!
Didn't you receive the empowerment from LOTR? :rolling: Ah! like gold fall the leaves in the wind, long years numberless as the wings of trees! The years have passed like swift draughts of the sweet soma in lofty halls atop Sumeru, beneath the blue vaults of ākāśa wherein the stars tremble in the s...

I think - I hope - you mean internecine feuding? Damn you autocorrect! (On second thoughts, thank you, autocorrect, for lightening up the mood. I rest in the safety of knowing you will do it again. And again. And again.) intestinal feuding definitely happens when fed a diet of bullshit. I considere...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Yeshi has abdicated this role completely. So, the DC is headless. Even then, not everyone would have followed Yeshi. Yes, at risk of a Hydra-headed existence rather than a tree with branches bearing fruit. Oh, it won't be like that. It will be just the same as any other Dzogchen lineage, not a tree...

Dear all, With this email, I want to inform you that the letter by Steven Landsberg that he sent recently has no relation to the International Gakyils communication - it is a private interpretation and reflections of Steven as he wrote in his letter. Re: Incense burners
So I have a shallow and silly question for the Tibetan subforum. I recently fed the corporate beast of spiritual consumerism and bought myself some incense from Nepal. My incense game is only mediocre, and I am only really used to the Chinese-style incense I get at the supermarket. The Chinese joss...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Not, I believe in this context. ChNN was clear who he authorised to teach what, and YN is also crystal clear. The father is dead so whose view do we honour here?: ''He believes that no one is authorized to give Direct Introduction in the Chögyal Namkhai Norbu lineage.'' But what does that sentence ...

Such notes are notoriously difficult to phrase accurately. ''He believes that no one is authorized to give Direct Introduction in the Chögyal Namkhai Norbu lineage.'' He may not, but at the same time makes it clear he is not connected, and therefore carries no authority to prevent others doing do. ...

I don't know about candles, but you once postded some pictures of your bwa bei. We very often use those to ask "are you done with your dinner?" Bwa Bei? Don't know that name. this thread- https://dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?t=25559 Ah, thanks, yes. Not familiar with that spelling - jiaobei is mor...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?
Is it generous of us to offer a candle and then withdraw the offer, or is that the same as with other offerings, determining when they are 'spent'? I don't know about candles, but you once postded some pictures of your bwa bei. We very often use those to ask "are you done with your dinner?" Bwa Bei...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?
Some interesting aspects of a candle offering here. Is it correct to assume we are only offering 'light'? I thought there was also 'Wal' and 'Tso' - 'Flame' and essence of (liquid) 'Fire', especially with Protectors. (See ChNN 'Garuda Practice') Then there is the aspect of generosity, abundance etc....

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
There is no lack of qualified Teachers in IDC to give DI and all of the lungs and teachings they have received from Rinpoche. This is what will keep Rinpoche's lineage going forward in the future. We know who ChNN authorised to give such things, and the list is short. (Published in this thread somew...

Re: sang purification cypress / juniper toxicity.
In the Naga rite he mentions cypress and 'other fragrant branches'. I took it to mean whatever was to hand, working with circumstances, even eucalyptus etc. If we buy powder it is good to know as much as we can, though - I had no idea of toxicity ! I have also heard some species (geranium varieties...
