Re: Honmon Butsuryu Shu

Well there isn't anything i can do about that. If you wanna visit our Nichiren Shoshu temple, I would recommend (of course?). We have two Joju Gohonzons now in the temple, and they are exactly like the Dai Gohonzon. We welcome gay and lesbians people, some members I noticed are even transgenders. a ...

Re: Honmon Butsuryu Shu

Hmmmm... I'm sorry I don't really think Nichiren Shu, the confederation itself is or has been interested in a lay Organization. This was never really a goal for them. They are unaffected by the conflicts that a lay group brings and they prefer it that way. This was the understanding I got when I vis...

Re: Honmon Butsuryu Shu

I think you might be happier staying in Rissho Kosei Kai as a marginal member. Either that or an independent Nichiren Buddhist would suit you since you dislike any formality / exclusivity of Nichiren Buddhism designated to a school/successor. I went to Nichiren Shu about four times and they're not v...

Re: Is the Portland Nichiren Shu temple closed?

The Chicago Nichiren Shoshu temple is getting a new chief priest too. He and his wife will come at the last week of April. He is very close to young teenagers and very energetic with his youth ministry back home in Indonesia. Our high priest Nichinyo Shonin approved his transfer in Taisekiji and its...

Re: Honmon Butsuryu Shu

they allow tassels in their colored Juzu prayer beads Quelle horreur! Oh Absolutely. I personally choose not to use colored Juzu cords since I follow our strict temple guidelines—I think many Juzu prayer beads with colors do look nice pretty on other Buddhist sects and it's a way for people to be "...

Re: Do other sections of Dharma Wheel attract this many trolls?

The only reason why this section attracts trolls is because the Buddhism propagated by Nichiren was hotly intense during his lifetime, and that has carried on with his legacy throughout the centuries, down to the present schools and lay organizations of Nichiren Buddhism. Basing sincere practice, on...

Re: Do other sections of Dharma Wheel attract this many trolls?

Why not? Nichiren Buddhism since the beginning has always had its trolling aspect. We can be honest about it, such was the situation even when Nichiren was alive, ame certainly after the six disciples went on their own ways. Life is such and such is human nature. Like what he said, suffer what is to...

Re: Is the Portland Nichiren Shu temple closed?

Their altar is quite nice. Sad to hear they closed. Just because we have differences. It's always hard to see another Buddhist temple struggle either financially or with loss of members. But that goes to show we have to work especially hard to be nicer to our own members, and keep positively flowing...

Re: Deity/god

Raijin and fujin. I have these two Shinto gods in my fukusa. You can also see them in the daibutsu todaiji in Nara, Japan by the torri gate. Unfortunately, they are in restoration/ construction so it will take a while for them to be restored to glory. But That is why I like going to Tozan so much, y...

Re: Who has been to propagate to first the Nichiren Buddhism in world?

I guess Nichiji is a qualified candidate. Although it did seem like a failure since he never successfully propagated Nichiren Buddhism longstandingly in China. Though I am a Nichiren Shoshu Temple member, Ikeda Daisaku certainly comes to mind. We may not agree or like him very much since our temple ...

Re: Honmon Butsuryu Shu

I have no experience with HBS, the only knowledge I have seen of their practice is they inscribe their own Gohonzon in a circular round style. They have obsessions on purple Kesa robes, they allow tassels in their colored Juzu prayer beads and they also copy the Tsuru Round Crane symbol in their rob...
