Re: The Future
I'm finding all the comments on this subject very interesting. I hope Greg is right, though. And so which of you can tell me if that story about the prophecy, you know the one where the Dharma spreads when the iron horse or whatnot flies (i'm obviously mangling it badly) is an apocryphal legend, or...

Re: The Future
It took Christianity about 1500 years to peak, and you think Vajrayana peaked in 20 years? No. Vajrayana is still in it's infancy in the West. A long-lived phenomena usually peaks at a slower pace than a short-lived one. Christianity, so far, enjoyed a long life because, from the Constantine the Gr...

Re: The Future
Perhaps I am being too negative. Kevin No, I think you're just being realistic. For instance, between mid-40's and early 60's a lot of genuine Dharma practitioners died in Tibet, China, Mongolia and so on due to persecution. The western baby-boomers with an interest in Dharma were largely born with...

Re: Obstacle years
How is the concept of "obstacle years" helpful? Obstacles arise when they arise, regardless of the calendar. Deal with them as they arise. Deal with them before they arise if you can. What has the calendar got to do with it? Om mani padme hum Kathy Obstacles arise indeed due to the karma accumulate...

If you received transmission from Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, you might want to check "The four methods of development" book.kirtu wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2017 8:50 pmSuch as? Re: Question on Kalachakra prophecy
Hi friends, regarding the kalachakra tantra: what is the role of all the other religions and gods, esp. christians and jews, in the battle against the mlecchas? Do you find them among one of the two sides, or are all people areligious and the gods without might? Are they destroyed or converted by t...

Re: Prayers and mantras
According to my research a full empowerment is not possible through live webcast. Thats what I thought. Depends on your teacher. If it's Garchen Rinpoche or Namkhai Norbu or a similar teacher, it's alright. Does Garchen transmit Dzogchen too? Garchen Rinpoche teaches extensively on the Yangzab cycl...

Re: Prayers and mantras
Dzogchen sounds good but there are no teachers around here and I'm skeptical of the whole thing about receiving teachings through webcast. Ricky, please have no doubts, the webcast transmission works. Just give it a try and see for yourself. The proof is in the pudding. However, later on, when you ...

Re: winning the lottery...???
Well, in any case, I heard that a pilgrimage to Pol Pot's grave seems to dramatically improve one's chances: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/29933064/ns/travel-news/t/tourists-look-luck-pol-pots-grave/#.WjnRxLpFzIU "Cambodians in the area, he says, have won an unusual number of lotteries, prompting Thais ...

Re: In 'The Beginning' ?
Why do people blindly accept a Beginning and rarely consider a continuum without beginning or end ? On a relative level, there is always a beginning the individual relates to. Earliest memories, birthdate, etc. The rest is extrapolation. I'm not sure I accept the concept of an earliest memory. I ca...
