Re: The Datsan Gunzechoinei
The Kalmyks also built a smaller and lesser-known Buddhist temple is Belgrade, Serbia. Afaik, the first Buddhist temple ever built in the Balkans. Sadly, it was demolished in the 60's. https://www.thetravelclub.org/articles/traveloscope/762-kalmyk-community-belgrade https://preview.redd.it/1chsp4z7c...

Re: Human feces smell
Do you have a functioning air conditioner? In hot or humid weather the outside smells tend to intensify. So if a hobo took a crap outside your house the smell could get carried in. Especially since you said the smell comes and goes.

Re: Practices for epidemics and pandemics
Gesar and santa. Hmm... Santa is associated with the Northern direction, just like Vaishravana. Santa is rich and bestows gifts, just like Vaishravana. Santa is fat, just like Vaishravana. Santa is assisted by elves, just like Vaishravana is assisted by yakshas. Now, Vaishravana also emanates as Dz...

Re: Pig kneels in front of a Buddhist temple in China
The pig was from a hogpen on the hill opposite the temple. It fled out with two other pigs in the morning of February 22, and wasn’t captured until the afternoon, according to its master, Mr. Huang. The pigs were already slaughtered by the evening of February 22, but Huang said if he had known abou...

Re: Namthar recommendations
Chagdud Tulku's "Lord of the Dance" is a good read imo. A very candid and engaging narrative, nothing like the dry traditional namthars. Not sure how useful for an academic dissertation though.

Re: 21 Tara's - which is Ekajatis prayer?
There are several systems of the 21 Taras and I am pretty sure that I read that one of her forms are connected with Ekajati. However I can't find that anywhere now. The only thing that turns up is Māhacīnatārā and she don't appear in any of the systems you can find online which is mainly Atisha's s...

For those of you who follow the Tibetan calendar in regards to observing auspicious/ inauspicious days, do you do that according to your local time or the India standard time?

Re: Can beings in hell recall their past lives?
Just wondering. Can they? In his delog account, Tagla Konchog Gyaltsen has given the names of many people from Eastern Tibet who were suffering in various Hell realms. He describes their suffering and what messages they had for their loved ones. Sometimes, Tagla wouldn't see the people but only hea...

Re: Leaving buddha by Tenzin Lhakpa
Unlike we Buddhists of course, who merely hold views like humans being born as mosquitos. I'm not sure what exactly you find ridiculous about the Buddhist idea of rebirth. And fully formed people stepping out of Lotuses You might want to check out Taranatha's version. http://promienie.net/images/dh...

Re: Leaving buddha by Tenzin Lhakpa
I only read the little preview available with Google books but I already have a feeling that Tenzin Lhakpa is probably a fictional character and the book was likely concocted by someone with a very superficial understanding of Tibetan Buddhism and culture and with a strong, well...Christian bias. [....

Could anyone kindly explain the rationale behind blocking the public transport? I thought that's a desirable alternative to private cars.

It seems that only the financially wealthy can buy favours and court justice, based on my own basic observation and experiences. Speaking of which.... Extinction Rebellion gets posher by the day. Last week it was announced that the 1,300 agitators arrested in London included Princess Marie-Esmérald...
