Re: Can a complete beginner benefit from Dzogchen practice?

What exactly would a beginner be practicing first ? I consider myself a beginner. I had direct pointing out via webcast. Attended a few other webcasts. Attended the Lung (VIA WEBCAST) for Malcolms book, BUDDHA IN THIS LIFETIME.. But i don't know what i should be doing as far as practice. Is it nece...

Rushen Order? (DC)

Hi all, Spawned from an unanswered question on this topic: https://dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=26588&p=420993#p420993 If one wants to work with the rushens, Malcolm mentioned that there's a specific order that they should be followed. Is this talked about more in any books? I'm working slow...

Re: An Instruction book Dudjom Tersar Ngöndro practice

Which ngondro, the short or long one? Tersar.org used to have instructions from H.H. Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche on the short Dudjom Tersar Ngondro available, although they are currently not online for some reason. You could try reaching out to them at the following link: http://www.tersar.org/contact/ I...

Where does a refuge tree image fall in these discussions? The refuge tree I use has protectors depicted on them. It sounds like this should be hidden?

Edit: Also, what about statues/images of Guru Rinpoche?

If you follow Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, there's always Alendar: http://alendar.org/

It also has haircutting days as well as a large amount of other astrological advice.

Re: Daily Tun practice and obstacles

It depends on various factors, including the nature of your circumstances, your connection to the various deities, and so on. I remember someone on DW a few months (years?) ago commenting that technically, you could do Vajrasattva-like purification while visualizing a different deity over your head,...

Re: Daily Tun practice and obstacles

In regards to "perfect practice," I believe this advice is specifically regarding action mantras. If you want to activate the action mantras of Green Tara, you must do a perfect retreat. But otherwise in a day-to-day practice, just try your best. In regards to obstacles, yes, the thuns are great pra...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I remember reading somewhere that Green Tara is best practiced in the morning. Is this largely a Kriyayoga concern? Or is this something to keep in mind while doing Rinpoche's Green Tara practice? Would it be more effective to do it at a certain time of the day, or is doing it in the afternoon/eveni...

Re: enlightment in one life

Practice rushen. Any rushen in particular? I imagine purification of the six lokas in particular would be very helpful? One does them all, step by step, starting with rushan of the body. It is of some import to go in this sequence. Where can I learn more about this? The only DC book that I can find...

Re: enlightment in one life

It refers to someone who has confirmed vidyā in a direct perception. However, successful completion of separation of samsara and nirvana of the body is described as having the same result. What happens to sincere/diligent practitioners who have not confirmed their understanding of rigpa? Practice r...

Re: enlightment in one life

You don't need to worry. Vimalamitra states: One of average diligence sees the instruction of the guru, seeing the direct perception of vidyā. However, because they are distracted by worldly distractions, they never have time to practice. When they cast off this body of traces, through the blessing...

Re: The DJKR Topic

A few years ago, an acquaintance of mine died from a drug overdose. Young, mid 20s. For some reason the funeral was held in a Christian church, despite the fact that he wasn't really religious (as far as I knew). During the eulogy, the priest decided to go off on a tangent about how drugs are bad an...

Suffice it here to say that DJKR was trying to make a point with his initial FB post regarding Sogyal R. What exactly, smcj, do you feel is the point that DJKR is trying to make? Right now we're dancing around words and explanations, and I think we're experiencing a serious mis-step in communicatio...

Another quote regarding the Dalai Lama's acceptance of action under the right circumstances: https://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/dalailama.asp I think the missing factor from this conversation is wisdom. Yes, all sentient beings are you mothers. But if your mother just killed twenty people in the p...

Appropriate Material for Prostration Board?

Apologies if this question has been answered before, I spent some time searching and couldn't find anything. I just moved to a new apartment and unfortunately every single inch of the floor is carpet. I'm looking to get a prostration board so that I don't burn my hands off, and I'm wondering if ther...

Re: Extra Mandala/Sangha Relationships

From what I understand, this is a hinayana instruction meant to nurture a very vulnerable and nascent connection to the dharma. If you just entered the path and are trying to establish a little bit of mindfulness in your life, the instruction is to help you place some distance from that friend of yo...

Qualified teachers like... Pachog Rinpoche... I'm assuming this is the same as Phakchok Rinpoche? Haven't seen that variation of spelling his name before. I would also be very curious to know where to get the booklet for this practice. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche kindly gave us the transmission for this practice very recently.
