Re: Ngakpas everywhere!
"Imagine that your Root Guru requires you to wear robes whenever you are attending teachings or empowerments, given by anyone. But you also have a Guru who specifies that you should not, and should wear the dress of your own culture etc. Do you simply give up attending the latter's sessions or risk ...

If that Guru is your Root Guru, then yes, His/Her teaching outweighs all others.

Re: a confession
Pero, The five sins of immediate retribution that you list are the sins that take you immediately to hell when you die without passing through the bardo or taking another life in-between. There are plenty of demeritorious actions beyond these five that can take you to hell. However, it is only these...

Re: How do Yogis survive?
Yeshe Dorje is approximately my own age. So 73, 74. I'm pretty sure he's not older than me. Maybe he's as young as 72. I seem to remember that he and my wife are the same age. I think he became Kyabje Jadral Rinpoche's student in 1971-2. Pretty early on.

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!
Personally, I haven't found much interest in the services of a ngakpa (other than divination) in even a heavily Vajrayana city like Boulder, CO. Perhaps that's because so many of the practitioners here are old Trungpa Rinpoche students. (Don't ask me to explain that further, please.) I the last year...

Re: How do Yogis survive?
By donations, either from jin-dag/patrons or by begging. Yeshe Dorje is a Nyingma yogi living in Crestone, CO. His cabin an hour up the side of a mountain is lent to him by the rich patroness that owns hundreds of acres there. His food and clothes come from a very meager stipend from his family and ...

Re: Sacred Passage Tsa-tsa
Losal, Phowa, Nay-dren, bardo prayers, and making and blessing sa-tsas can all be done at a distance. So can reciting Zang Chod Monlam. For me, I wouyld actually wanrt to be at the cremation, even if that only meant I was in the crematorium's waiting room or chapel. The cremation ceremony should be ...

Actually, I think a student of a student of Changchub Dorje. Definitely in the same lineage stemming from Nyala Pema Duddul. I know the Terton Who blesses and places the sa-tsa in the cave. He is very, very special and I have utmost respect for Him. That being said, I also think it's time for Wester...

Dowload for free. The list of ingredients is at the end.
I don't know that this is a "rigid" list. It's Lama Dawa's list. It doesn't say where He got it from.

Wei Han,
Just looked up Lama Dawa Chodrak's ingredients for making a mother sang mixture and it does not include guggul. Sorry if I was mistaken.

Re: Commiphora wightii ,mukul, guggul resin
WeiHan, The incense is not for you; it's for the Guru(s) and Deities. Since the ingredients in Riwo Sangchod each have a reason for being there, good to get more. You can add a little to any other incense you'd like to offer as well as various flours. This includes sandalwood and guggul. This will m...

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!
According to one of my Teachers in Kham, there is a Jigme Lingpa ngakpa ordination that one person can only give to 13 others in their entire lifetime. That Teacher always wears the whole ngakpa kit. However, I know one of his Western students who asked for this ordination and then asked to be excus...

Varis,
"There is an association between all white robes and yogis who have accomplishments in regards to tummo practice among Kagyupas."
I don't know anything about Kagyudpas, but, in Nyingma, it is the red and white zen associated with mastery of tummo.

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!
IMO, the only ngakpa that matters is the one who actually has ngak. Even if one does have ngak, better to be a bay-pai naljor/hidden yogi in this day and age.

Re: Guru Puja
Have Narak Kongshak recited as many times as you can afford at www.mahasiddha.org. Go to their prayer requests page and scroll down their list of available pujas. If you specifically want to sponsor a Guru puja, another option would be to have the Dudjom Lama Chodpa done for you. But I don't believe...

"There is no dharma magic in the sounds of words, aside from mantras. Don’t know where you get that idea from but it’s not a thing in Buddhism." We're all so sure of ourselves and opinions. This is the obscuration of knowledge and it's so hard for all of us to eliminate. It's the very water we menta...
