Re: Subtle body

But if channels, pranas etc are purely rupa, then why the association with sambogakaya (eg in the speech empowerment)? Speech is part of rupa skandha; likewise the sambhogakaya is part of the rupakaya. Surely speech entails samjnaskandha and samskaraskandha too. It has both rupa and namah components.

Re: Chenresig-Green Tara -Ekajati

I know of a White Tara-Green Tara- Ekajati empowerment which HHDL has bestowed, which comes from a vision received by the great 5th Dalai-Lama. So there is a Nyingma-Dzogchen flavour here, which is intriguing.

Sorry, but I don't know of any pictures or sadhanas.

Re: Receiving pointing out without knowing

Greetings, maybe a silly question, but i'll ask anyway. As I was becoming interested in Dzogchen earlier last year, I went to an in person evening seminar by 7th Dzogchen Rinpoche Jikmé Losel Wangpo in Melbourne Australia titled ' why are you so busy'. I didn't really understand what pointing out i...

Re: Tonglen discursive problems

To Padmavonsambha :good: Maybe prior to tonglen focus bit more on cultivating loving kindness. Or at least take the tonglen gradually. Also maybe Garchen Rinpoche's instructions on tonglen could be useful for you. Basically with inbreath you sound Om in your mind and take in the cause of all suffer...

Re: Being healthier

I'm pretty skinny, but I love cheese, butter, chocolate etc....and two years ago I tested for high'ish cholesterol. My doc said: don't give anything up, just halve the amounts you consume. I followed this, without much difficulty, and the next year the numbers had come right down. I think this metho...

Oh thanks, Octo, I hadn't spotted that before. Very nice indeed. It is, isn't it? He ended the retreat in Valencia with a passionate denouncement of those who use the Dharma to make money, build up their status or benefit from it in any mundane way., insisting that we are here to serve the society ...

Re: Tsadra Foundation website rollout on Buddha Nature

Buddhist beliefs are N+1. The question is whether or not such beliefs are Buddhist in Name Only [BINO], for example, the Pudgalavādin position. BINO. I like that. BTW, for those that haven’t already figured it out, I used to be smcj here. The DW program has a glitch in it. I got locked out of my ac...

Re: Time for new friends?

Hey guys, A couple of years ago I was really depressed. Since then I got treatment for the depression, went back to school, moved, stepped up my Buddhist practice, and got more involved my community. Since getting help I noticed something. Holy shi_t, most people in my circle are not happy! Not onl...

Re: Subtle body

1. Does the subtle body exist conventionally? Or is it just a way to work with with our anatomy and physiology? My take: Does the nervous system exist conventionally? What about the cardiovascular system? There are both abstractions taken from viewing the body from outside, they exist in a conventi...

For me, this begs the question: is it (doubt, samaya pollution) in the object or the mind apprehending that object?

Re: Age of Disease, Famine and War

Why not the Vajra Guru Mantra or the Seven Line Prayer? The Seven Line Prayer for what it's worth, is a very popular practice, and an incredibly deep and profound practice. True, those can actually just be done right? I actually never thought of supplicating outside of some formal sadhana. For sure...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?

These kinds of concerns are really about something so superficial. When you have a shrine, you offer the best of whatever you can, but just offer it and don’t be attached to the outward forms, because they are illusions anyway. A rough idea of price: 15 hour Votive candles from a restaurant supply ...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?

No. They've already been offered (ABO). They are no longer yours. Best to allow them to burn completely out on their own. there are several ways of doing this safely such as putting on top of glass, putting in a glass or metal coaster, putting in a shallow pan of water. This is why many, many templ...

Re: Is it okay to re-offer candles weve had to put out?

Generosity is in the mind, not the object. So, if we're considering karmic effects (which actually, if it is to be danaparamita, we've gone beyond), can we start this conversation with what kind of mentalities we're giving with, rather than what is the 'rule' for object x or y? I don't think it's c...

Re: Time Management Experience

Hi, modern lives can be quite messy and full of activities and it is really hard to find time for anything with all these distractions. So since I am failing in many tasks and my daily practice is as irregular as it can be I want to ask you about advice. How do you manage your activities? Do you ha...
