Re: Great living female lamas

Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche has also written a fine book, This Precious Life: Tibetan Buddhist Teachings on the Path to Enlightenment. I heartily recommend it.

Re: Giving gifts and teachings

In my all too brief experience with teachings and empowerments, it's normal for the student to gift the teacher at the end of the teaching. That's when kata ceremonies occur. One offers the kata for blessing and dana for the teaching/empowerment.

Re: White Tara Retreat from Afar - Dec 3 - Jan 2

I signed up for this a while back. I think it's going to be an excellent experience, and I am impressed that such an option is being offered. Take a look at past retreats. There is an abundance of information and experiential links help the retreats come alive.

Re: Hello Everyone

Dear Lotus, I wanted to thank you for sharing your religion with us. I had no idea Sikhism was so similar to Budddhism. What you have written has opened up an area I never knew anything about, both your religion and the cultural nuances that accompany it.
Thank you,
Lise

Re: katas

Thanks for your suggestion. I had been doing that, but I am presently living in an RV and my altar takes up a small corner of my bedroom. Not much space for hanging things. . . Any other suggestions?
:thanks:

katas

I have several katas which have been blessed by various lamas. What does one do with them once they are blessed?

Re: Meditative Journaling

Hi Chaz, yes, I have journalled about my meditation. I haven't done so recently, but when I do so, it helps me gain more insight into my feelings about meditation and the actual meditation session. Maybe I need to start up again, as I have been having some difficulty staying on the cushion! :thinkin...

Re: Meditative Journaling

My teacher suggested I keep a journal to jot down my thoughts and insight from meditation. It's a good way to keep track of what is going on in your mind and note any progress/changes you discover.

Re: Question about arguments against Mahayana

I think the argument shows some sense of insecurity. One claiming to be better than the other because it claims to be the original. To me, that doesn't matter. If the teachings are valid, no matter which path one takes, they are valid. Age doesn't make one better than the other.

Re: deity yoga

Dear ronne, as my lama (and NOT temple director) is on retreat until September I have to fend for myself, hence I am asking on this forum. I don't know what you are saying we disagree on, except your inferences from my other messages. I think I am more aware of my practice than you, that is what I a...

As far as your comments ronne, I think it's unwise to infer things because the inferences themselves can be wrong.
