Re: 3 x 3's

I don't really know what 3x3 refers to.. maybe the size of his zabuton? If you are looking for zazen instructions, these are from "moon in a dewdrop, writings of zen master dogen" Set aside all involvements and let the myriad things rest. Zazen is not thinking of good, not thinking of bad. I...

Re: Website Idea's

Now I realize why they call it the thinker... :toilet: This isn't fully fleshed out, but I am curious what people think of this idea, and excuse the mess as I sort of wrote it up in a hurry -- perhaps I should clean it up a bit but I feel lazy today. :) -------------------------------------- Create ...

Re: Very Amazing Experience

That is interesting, I've gotten a similar sensation, except to me it was unpleasant. More like pressure/feeling of something solid & annoying in my forehead area. Cool that it can go both ways though.

Re: Website Idea's

It's hard not to be distracted sometimes. :)

Coding for me is like painting, or calligraphy, or chanting. Helping people is just a great side effect.

Website Idea's

I have been thinking about creating a website for some time, for the purpose of helping people in some way or another, unfortunately I haven't had any great ideas. If anyone want's to offer me some ideas, that would be awesome. The only thing I know I want to avoid is dealing with money in any way, b...

Re: A few questions

There was another thread where tonglen was mentioned in the past couple months... I don't recall the name of the thread unfortunately, but maybe do a search. The visualization of taking others negativity by inhaling it in the form of black smoke was the part in question... There was speculation abo...

Re: A few questions

I am curious, can tonglen be your only meditation practice, or should it be practiced with other methods too? What is common?

Re: Mindful Visions (Free Windows Software)

A new version with many bug fixes is up. Unless some more major bugs appear, I will probably be working on the next version for a while. If anyone has suggestions for features they would like to see, feel free to leave me some ideas. Thanks. :)

Mindful Visions (Free Windows Software)

I have been working on a piece of software that aids in mindfulness, It's an open source project so you can inspect and see it's virus free, or compile it safely for yourself (It's written in C#, using Visual Studio 2010), It's essentially a simple reminder, and let's you choose how often it's displ...

Re: A few questions

Thank you Mr. G, I'll give it a shot. :)

There are some really interesting meditation's listed on the page Dechen Norbu linked, something about "TONGLEN " strikes me, I think I may add that one to my routine.

Thanks everyone. :namaste:

Re: A few questions

Konchog1, mindfulness of breath is my normal practice maybay, I suppose the goal is simply freedom, It may sound silly but I would like to experience all of the jhana's, as well. I think you may be right on removing obstacles, though I'm currently at a loss on how to do that entirely. I'm no...

A few questions

I have been wondering lately if I am progressing at all with meditation, I really have no idea what sort's of qualities I should watch for to gauge my progress. Are there any to keep in mind? Lately I have been a bit lazy with my meditation, I think because there are long periods of very uninteresti...

Disappear

What is this? You see it's really quite strange, When I focus intently on the very essence of my being Alive, Conscious, and Aware I find a very funny feeling arises, like staring at the sky and watching curiously as it all starts to disappear. Maybe I've never been quite right, but who's to say, I'...

Re: Can dharma alone make life worth living?

I'm not using Buddhism per-say, only my experience. Which is fairly limited, as I am only 28 myself.. it cannot transform material or social conditions much Think about how something as simple as a genuine smile, could transform another person's day, and every thought and action thereafter, and (in ...

Re: Can dharma alone make life worth living?

Perfection is a dream. There are terrible things in this world, but there are also beautiful things. If you don't let go of all that negativity, fear and egoism, then yes the world will always seem like a terrible place, all the while beauty is hitting you over the head like a ton of bricks.
