"A day at the park", comic.

Pretty long, so be prepared to wait a bit for load/read. It's worth it though. :)

WHAT AM I?

A riddle I found here: http://www.expandyourmind.com/logicproblems/logic_lateral.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; WHAT AM I?: If you look, you can't see me. If you see me, you cannot see anything else. I can make you walk if you can't. Sometimes I speak the truth. And sometimes I...

Re: First jhana question

My advice would be to forget jhanas, and just meditate. If pleasurable sensations happen, just keep on your breathing.. in general I don't think they 'mean' anything.. sensations come and go in meditation.. some are amazing, some not so much. There are other meditations where you specifically mindfu...

If you were in his situation, would you think it'd be kind if someone did the same for you?

Re: Real Marijuana as Herbal Medicine?

Can't people just admit they like smoking up?
I don't like smoking at all, it gives me anxiety.. but if I am ever in a deep depression, it's about the only thing that can snap me out of it. I use a very tiny amount.

So, it does have genuine medical uses, imho.

Re: Alan Watts - fear of enlightenment

Your welcome, glad you enjoyed it..

Along time ago I used to have his "Zen Clues" on audio book, used to listen to it all the time.. didn't really understand what he was saying but it always made me feel better! haha.

Re: Newbie trying to find focus

Personally, I think you should just check out what you're interested in - follow your instincts and interests until you find something you want to settle on. I agree with this, really I think you just need a solid intellectual understanding of the core concepts in Buddhism. From there just practice...

Re: Meditation "Spill over"

For me, it was seeing that I actually had accumulated a whole lot more mental bullsh** than I was even aware of!!! Oh yes I am certainty noticing that much about myself. I suppose it becomes more difficult when you actually begin to see these thing's, sort of disheartening but also humbling. Right ...

Meditation "Spill over"

I have heard that the longer you maintain your meditation practice, the more the calmness & other 'good' effects carry over into your normal frame of mind. I am curious to hear from long time meditators how true this is? How long did it take before you noticed it having a profound effect on your dai...

Re: Why meditate?

My main reason is I don't want to be clinically depressed anymore. As far as depression goes, I'm in the same boat and I can tell you that Meditation / Buddhism can help. Though I'd warn that with enough meditation, it may bring up some thing's that could worsen it, but imo it's part of the process...

Re: Website Idea's

Having a service seems like a good idea. Do the major calendar apps use some common interface for data retrieval? Json or xml, or something? The actual website itself could be designed to work on all platforms, which isn't as convenient as your device pulling the data down to your local calendar app...

I have an idea for you or David: http://www.buddhistcalendar.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or .com IN it, one can find any schedule of any Buddhist teacher or center. Re: Herbs for remembering dreams

Thanks for the advice, I tried the notebook thing last night with limited success. I do remember waking up a few times and knowing I should write down my dreams, but I was too foggy headed and sleepy to make myself do it, so I woke up again much later not remembering them again. Ohwell. :) I will gi...
