Re: Thoughts on Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche

I'm curious about the empowerments at the end of August: http://www.tersar.org/summer-2014-program/ In particular, does anyone know what Tara wang will be offered, and also what commitments there will be for either of the empowerments? Probably one of the short Dudjom Tersar Green Tara practices (I...

Re: Thoughts on Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche

I have been to many of his teachings and like his style as well as the density of his teachings. You are right in saying that he crams a lot of extra teachings in that may seem like they have little to do with the topic at hand, but they are often some of the most interesting topics. I too would lik...

Where in India? If you are close to a Dudjom Gompa they might have a copy somewhere.

Re: Historical Changes in Ritual Implements & Shrine Set-up

The possible reason for this might be that the vast majority of customers of these implements are the young monks and nuns at the monasteries throughout Nepal and India. Many of them were orphans or their parents were too poor to keep them so they offered them to the monastery. If the monastery is p...

Re: Longchen Nyingtig Tseringma

The Thangka painter is supposed to paint from the text. So you want to look for the text that gives the most details. Nogdrup, yes of course that is ideal, but when both the practitioner and painter do not have a copy of the text and it is an uncommon practice, we need to look elsewhere. It appears...

Re: "Dharma practice atmospere"

I think there is something to be said for the people who you let into your life. Are they a positive support or a detraction? I'm not saying to shut people out but we all know the people who dissuade us from practicing and encourage harmful behavior. To me it is an important first step to limit or e...

Longchen Nyingtig Tseringma

Hello, I was asked by a Lama friend to arrange for a Tseringma and 4 sisters thangka to be made in Longchen Nyingtig style. I have found a few variations depending on whether they are Kagyu vs Nyingma but I haven't found anything specific to Longchen Nyingtig. Is anyone familiar with these deities? ...

Re: Vajrasattva practice books/articles

also probably the cascading waterfall of nectar has too, its about ngondro. should have useful stuff about vajrasattva. i have it but havent read it yet. This is an insanely dense and pithy text that took me a long time to read properly in order to be able to digest the layers upon layers of teachi...

Re: Namchak Putri, The Meteoric Iron Razor

I believe the fine people at Pema Osel Ling completed a translation of the majority of this cycle a few years ago but when I checked it was not available to the public. Its a shame as I know of no other source for an English translation at this point and it is a large cycle with a very fresh tsa lun...

Re: Famous Tröma Nagmo female practitioners

May the upcoming book from Sangye Khandro will outline some of the better known Troma practitioners of the past. Also I would imagine Sera Khandro must have had an association with the practice given her relationship to Dudjom Lingpa's relatives.

I have a total of about 5 treasure vases currently as well as some of the earth or naga vases. I wouldn't say that their goal is to make you rich as much as wealthy, which includes benefits like good health, enough food, longevity, etc. My root guru likes to make these so that is one reason I have a...

Re: Mantra Recitation - Do You Do Enough?

It's been a little while since my main practice focused on Ngondro, but I completed mine as a pretty much full time practitioner in Nepal and India. This was in my early 20s when I was extremely fit and I would max out at about 4,000 prostrations a day. I did them in 4 x 2.5 hours sessions with brea...
