Re: Ngakpa Livelihood

Dharma in the west is not for free, retreats teachings etc cost money and sometimes a lot. choose work which you like to do, earn money, spend for Dharma practice (personal or support others). no need to complicate things I'm financial analyst ...

Re: Information on Sarasvati
There are several tantric forms of Sarasvati in Tibetan Buddhism, both in Sarma and Terma - to mention few: - white two armed Vajra Sarasvati from Samputa Tantra, - white four armed Vajra Sarasvati (Taranatha's Rinjung Gyatsa), - red two armed Vajra Sarasvati (termas + Shakyasri Bhadra tradition - p...

Re: What is the Buddhist's view on homosexuality?
I believe OP question was not about survival of monastic sangha but whenever people with homosexual tendencies are included or excluded from community of practitioners. And answer from my personal experience is - definitely included.

Re: What is the Buddhist's view on homosexuality?
I'm gay and I'm practicing vajrayana for last 22 years.
There are homophobic teachers out there so just avoid them.
Most of teachers however they don't care or are supportive.
at some stage of practice it all becomes minor issue anyway, mind has no sex really

Re: Hindu Deities in Tibetan Nyingma
Hindu deities like Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva (Mahesvara), Agni, Vayu, Varuna, Yama, Surya, Chandra, Kubera, Ganapati etc. etc. are also protectors of many HAYT mandalas (i.e. Vajrabhaiarava, Mahakala, Chaturpitha) they have their respective places in mandala and are subjects of offerings, veneration and...

Re: Not following commitments
The ultimate goal of Guru is to get you to the point that you need no Guru anymore. So whenever I have doubts I always check myself if I'm becoming more self-confident about Dharma practice or more confused. There are also clear instructions about qualities of Guru. One should investigate and check ...

Re: How long do you meditate for?
Jeff, the point is that in Tibet in the Gelug tradition, śamatha meditation was not especially emphasized, historically. The fact is that Sakyas and Gelugpas don't do much sūtrayāna style śamatha because they think sadhana practice (reciting texts, chanting mantras, and so on) is a more effective m...

Re: recommended Dzogchen retreats/courses/teachers
I have one question; is there a possibility to meet Rinpoche in person, individually? How would you compare this to the retreat, which I thought, was only option? Łukasz (Poland) of course, there is always possibility for individual conversation. The best way is always to ask organizer or Rinpoche'...

why don't you do Mahakala sadhana (for example) everyday for few years and see how your life is changing? this way you will have direct experience of Dharmapalas activity yourself I have to say that sounds unsettlingly close to the "chant for wealth" doctrines taught by some religious...
