Re: Practicing without possibility of physical contact with teacher

GrapeLover wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2020 3:01 pm As an aside, I emailed as directed on Tuesday to register for James Low’s Zoom talk but haven’t heard back—do you know if you normally need to wait a bit? Don’t want to be impatient but also don’t want to leave it too late :)
I signed up too, but I've heard nothing yet either.

Re: Practicing without possibility of physical contact with teacher

Both James Low and Lama Lena give full dzogchen transmission online in their talks. I've also seen Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche give free streams, open-access on Facebook.

Re: Song of Vajra

It's from the Tantra of the Sun and Moon. You can find some good info here (see the notes at the bottom): https://www.lotsawahouse.org/words-of-t ... g-of-vajra

You can also find it in the Chokling Tersar's Ngakso drubchen.

Re: Practicing without possibility of physical contact with teacher

Also keep an eye on the schedules of Garchen Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Mingyur Rinpoche, and Tskonyi Rinpoche - all might teach it online at some point, though their schedules have all been impacted for obvious reasons. Edit: Just found out that Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche is giving medit...

Re: Practicing without possibility of physical contact with teacher

Lama Lena, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Alan Wallace, James Low are four lamas who teach Dzogchen online. There will be others. James is in fact doing it next Wednesday via Zoom: https://www.simplybeing.co.uk/events/ I honestly think that it's a brilliant time to be a student of Dzogchen. It is widely a...

H.E. Garchen Rinpoche will bestow the Bodhisattva vows (online) on his birthday, Friday April 17th at 3pm (Arizona time)

Just got an email with the following great news: H.E. Garchen Rinpoche will bestow the Bodhisattva vows on his birthday, Friday April 17th at 3pm (Arizona time). On April 15th H.E. Garchen Rinpoche sends this message to each of you.... Many disciples around the world expressed their wish to hold pra...

Re: PTSD and Mahayana Buddhism

I am personally of the opinion that complex PTSD is the cause of about 90% of mental health issues. I think looking into it, especially via Pete Walker's books, would be of use to many people. It's especially interesting to see CPTSD through a Buddhist lense - at least it has been for me.

Re: Tsoknyi Rinpoche Question

Tsoknyi Rinpoche's retreats I've been to have been silent. This tends to make them far more like a personal retreat than the social event other retreats can be.

Re: The Self-Arisen Vidya Tantra and The Self-Liberated Vidya Tantra A Translation of the Rigpa Rang Shar and Rigpa Rang

There are plenty of disciples in the history of Vajrayana who are grateful that on one occasion or another they were struck or hit by their guru. It can indeed remove obstacles. Everyone knows this. One of my teachers (who I think is also one of yours), after a private interview, gave me a hug then...

Lots of stuff there, but I think it's mostly correct. I think the scientific Buddhism thing came from Theosophy and also debates held in Sri Lanka with Theravadins against Christians in the late 19th century. I am in a position where I just don't care about "science says", especially when it is tak...

Re: Wisdom Academy - Moved from Tibetan Forum

This would obviously be a question best directed at Malcolm, but what is the best route to being as educated as he is? I have been to many seminars etc., but they are not not in the same level of detail nor deal with the same topics which Malcolm talks about.

Re: the goddess Amaterasu...but why a goddess?

the sky-father / earth-mother pairing is hypothesized to originate with proto-indo-european beliefs. The reconstructed pair is labelled Dyeus and Dhegom by academics. If that theory is correct, then all the other sky-father figures derived from or were influenced by these beliefs. (I'm not familiar...

He is carrying on in the Facebook group Ask the Acarya. So do I, but honestly I think this is a better format for him to share his knowledge. Re: Wisdom Academy - Moved from Tibetan Forum

I would strongly recommend Malcolm's Dzogchen course on this site. It's excellent. The first lecture is free - it explains the history of the different lineages and empowerments - and that alone is information that's hard to find anywhere else Great lectures from Malcolm - excellent background info...

Solar (red) is female in Buddhism in general, especially tantric Buddhism. Lunar (white) is male.
