Re: Pure Land mystycism

Hello Few months ago I've become interested in Pure Land teachings, which I began to study deeply. I've read both the Chinese and Japanese authors and I found their works truly illuminating, yet D.T. Suzuki's writings on Shin Buddhism, Anjin Ketsujo Sho, Naturalness by Kanamatsu Kenryo and Awakenin...

Re: On being fearful of Shikantaza

...perhaps the issue is just that you need to relax.... Probably very true. there is an uncomfortable sense of urgency at times regarding 'time' and the need to 'achieve liberation' before time runs out (as it were) - particularly as we are so often told about how time flies and we should grasp at ...

Re: Doubts about Alan Wallace restricted dzogchen courses

Good afternoon, This is my first post here at Dharmawheel. I have found a wealth of information and have been searching about this specific question, but have found nothing here, nor on reddit about it. My apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere. My question is: How does one go about ...

Re: Ground, Path and Fruition

Well for example, some systems take the aggregates, and so on as the basis; other systems take wisdom as the basis. It’s important to understand this point because it directly has a bearing on the path, and the result. So Completion with and without characteristics? No, that’s not it. Not sure what...

Re: Ground, Path and Fruition

Basis, path, and result are not the same for all teachings. So better to provide context. Hi Malcolm :namaste: What are the differences can I ask respectfully? Well for example, some systems take the aggregates, and so on as the basis; other systems take wisdom as the basis. It’s important to under...

Re: Do the four binding factors apply to pratimoksha vows?

In Dudjoms Rinpoches commentary on Ngari Panchen's "Perfect conduct", the four binding factors that constitute a root downfall are given in the section on bodhisattva vows. Im wondering if these apply to the pratimoksha vows. Lets say you tell a lie for financial support from a family member. At th...

Dear unknown dharma friends, I'm in my early 20s and am one year away from graduating as an english major. I've spent time in India and Nepal and have been fortunate enough to meet some wonderful masters, most of whom were Nyingma. I have taken refuge, have a daily practice, etc. My purpose for wri...

Thanks Virgo that's so kind to listen and comment, a lot of the music was inspired by my ongoing Mahamudra practice given by Garchen Rinpoche, so it's quite slow and chilled. Cadiz Orange Trees is more lively though. Thanks you've made my night!!!! Cadiz is more of a mantra track, lol. Thank you fo...

Re: Music time

Just don't like the way he's overtly encouraging very young people to drink alcohol. It's all over this video. Young people look up to him as a hero..... Well I think he is just having a drink with his mates. He has a number of songs about alcohol. I kind of see your point but in Britain there is a...
