Re: Active Dzogchen Teachers 2023

I can say from personal experience that Acarya Malcolm Smith and Tsoknyi Rinpoche teach Dzogchen directly and very openly.

Re: Tsoknyi Rinpoche's Trekchö retreat

The retreat just ended yesterday. I'm still basking in the after glow, as you would. Great retreat. Amazing teacher. Clarified a lot of things for me. His explanation really helped to enhance my understanding of things. His approach is different from what I'm used to but trekchö is trekchö. Thank yo...

Tsoknyi Rinpoche's Trekchö retreat

I'll be participating in a retreat with Tsoknyi Rinpoche soon, which will be focusing on the subtle body and Trekchö. Just wondering if anyone else has participated in this retreat in the past. Any advice about this or any of Tsoknyi Rinpoche's retreats in general would be much appreciated.

Re: Instantaneous death and the Bardo

That's why, when Phowa is taught it's also usually explained how to do it very quickly. So when you see an immediate life threatening danger (somebody is pointing a gun at you, you're falling from a ladder, etc.) you just do a Phowa in a second. That's if you have a second. These guys didn't even h...

Re: Instantaneous death and the Bardo

I think it will be very similar case for a person in the bardo. Even though images and visuals of various sorts will pop up and even seem to take over the mind of the person, maybe there will be that “little voice in the back of their head” as the saying goes, by which they know that although somet...

Instantaneous death and the Bardo

I've been thinking about a lot this recently, for obvious reasons. Suppose a practitioner finds themselves in a situation like the Titan sub, where they're eviscerated in a fraction of a second, with hardly enough time to even register what's happening, much less to prepare for the moment of death. ...

Re: Teachers with clairvoyance, alive

The Buddha states, in multiple sutras, that one should not use these things as means of attracting or teaching students. That's basically all we need to know. He also describes, sometimes in the same sutras, the type of powers one can attain through practice, so it's not as if he thinks the abiliti...

Re: When dharma-practice results in the opposite of what was expected

Dharma practice causes ripening of all kinds of circumstances, many of which are not necessarily pleasant. So, my take is that one should not expect a peaceful life from Dharma practice, because there is really no such thing in samsara. Rather, hopefully we can work better with our circumstances an...

What's the best way to keep up with Rinpoche's schedule and activities? There's very little information about him online. The official website has a contact email but I thought I'd ask here first, in case anyone knows?

Apologies for reviving an old thread.

Is Dorje Dermo (Vajraṇakhi) connected to Dzogchen in anyway?

Me too. I even had a chance to have a one-on-one conversation with him but blew the opportunity. Terribly sad news.

This looks interesting. I'm not familiar with Tulku Orgyen Phuntsok Rinpoche - who I am assuming will be giving this transmission? Does anyone have any experience receiving teachings from Rinpoche?

Re: Protocols for requesting lungs/empowerment

It depends whether you're requesting an empowerment, a teaching on a practice, or a lung. Thank you for the detailed reply, Peter. A lot for me to ruminate on. Reflecting on it now, I reckon what I was looking for, rather selfishly, were lungs for certain types of practices. However, as you rightly...

Protocols for requesting lungs/empowerment

I'll preface this by saying that I have little to no formal Vajrayana training whatsoever, hence my inexperience with these sorts of things. I would like to approach a few teachers about possibly receiving some inner-tantra/HYT teachings from them. A number of them are contactable via email but I th...

Re: Most Important Texts in the Nyingma Tradition

Tokden Rinpoche gave the whole transmission in France in the late 1980's. He is a lineage holder of this cycle. Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche was also a lineage holder of this cycle. There are certainly others, also outside the Mindroling lineage. Awesome. I hope I have the merit to receive this transmis...

Is there somewhere I can learn more about the Ati Zabdön? You can get the whole structure of the cycle here on JLA's Dzogchen Wiki : http://www.wikidz.artremy.com/wiki/Quintessence_des_Profonds_Principes_de_l%27Atiyoga This cycle is really amazing. It contains the "fusion" of the traditio...
