Re: can we talk about this/differing sect ideas in Nichiren Schools
Actually “Shonin” literally translates to “Correct Person” or “True Person” But this title has been used for many Japanese Buddhist sects in deference to their superiors, so naturally the same method is used in Nichiren Shoshu. The word “master” commonly used by Hokkeko priests to their Chief Priest...

Re: Do you practice with Nichiren Shu, SGI or Nichiren Shoshu?
We are also practitioners of Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism. I like the fact that all the original/older Soka Gakkai beliefs and religious practices are fully found intact within Nichiren Shoshu doctrines, and that the Head Temple protects these traditionalist teachings through our Hokkeko practice. Going...

Re: Introducing the practice of Daimoku to friends and relatives
You have a habit of going outside the topic and provoking Trollish reactions to which I make no interest to engage. My post did not include anything about the Dai Gohonzon of the High Sanctuary nor the Doctrine of Hombutsu, but you felt the need to Troll incessantly to justify your Nichiren Shu here...

Re: Introducing the practice of Daimoku to friends and relatives
Please go back to reading the "Nichiren Shoshu - Basics of Practice" to refresh your old doctrines on Hokkeko teachings.
Or it may be apparent that you never learned them correctly on the first place so now you have no current understanding of my statement.

Re: Introducing the practice of Daimoku to friends and relatives
Nichimoku Shonin, the third High Priest of Nichiren Shoshu met the Daishonin at age 14 to 15. He was practicing as a student in a Shingon Temple of Vajrayana Buddhism but was convinced by the argument of Nikko Shonin who eventually took him as a disciple, from Mount Izu to Mount Minobu where he serv...

Re: SGI had to "create" a new religion after excommunication for copyright/tax reasons?
SGI making their own interpretative Gohonzon for their believers is an excellent decision. Yes, that would be a tremendous benefit for everyone concerned and I can imagine many Nichiren Shoshu believers would also be delighted for the senior SGI leadership to stop using any renditions of the Dai Goh...

Good luck. People with much more pull than you can imagine have tried and ended up giving up. The power of least common denominator. You're dealing with an organization that is part of the Japanese government. Power is deep, heavy and well funded. Momentum is set and they've already dealt with you ...

Bobby, The Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist terminologies accorded to the Sutra recitations are the following; Hoben — 2nd prose Seogyo — 2nd verse Chogyo — 2nd prose Jigage — 2nd verse The Seogyo recitation was gradually stopped during the tenure of High Priest Nittatsu Shonin 66th, as it was limited only ...

Re: Nichiren Shoshu resources, books in english
Hi Bobby, Those digital sermons and doctrinal documents may be found in Nichiren Shoshu discussion groups on FaceBook. But they are only shared within that group so someone who is Hokkeko would have to access them first. If they are with Soka Gakkai, they should contact the Kaidozan Shoboji Temple t...

Re: Nichiren Shoshu resources, books in english
Bobby here you go https://honseiji.org/documents/Nichiren-Shoshu-Basics-of-Practice.pdf That’s the book we want aspiring Nichiren Shōshū believers to read. It’s the most important book to read first before any other publication from the NST. Aside from that, we are also called to point out that Soka...

Re: What are the precepts in Nichiren Shoshu?
The honorable sacred precepts (Go JuKai) of Nichiren Shoshu composes of three vows. The third question is the one that refers to the Diamond Cup 1. “Do you faithfully swear to practice the true teachings of Nichiren Daishonin throughout your life?” 2. “Do you faithfully swear to protect the Gohonzon...

That is an image of the Dai Gohonzon transcribed by 67th High Priest NIKKEN Shonin. It is the 1985 Mandala version, same as the one installed in Los Angeles Myohoji Temple in 1997. The Chief priest assigned to this New York Temple is Vice-President Shinga Takikawa.

Re: Why doesn’t Ikeda inscribe his own gohonzon?
The import of Japanese religious terminology on Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist practice is an integral part in respecting both the religion and its daily behavioral practice upon the believer. It is not done to superficially impress others or create a false sense of pretentiosity as if it’s a standard of ...

In Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist practice, we also use the terms "O-shikimi" and "Okyobon" among other things such as "Ojuzu" / "Onenju" and "O-mamori" since in Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist practice, since we strongly believe that Buddhist paraphernalias acquire very sacred properties when used in front of t...

Re: Why doesn’t Ikeda inscribe his own gohonzon?
Honestly, I wish he would, or that SG would come up with their own gohonzon. I don't mean it out of any animosity toward SG or its practitioners, but I think it's an important that the "divorce" be finalized. Given the importance of the gohonzon, this is an important step. I nearly turned away from...

I also practice in Nichiren Shoshu as well. Chicago has a Temple and Reverend Kato is the one stationed there. They have a fairly large amount of youth practitioners and as well as a big lawn where people gather and hang out to learn about Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism from a fairly large amount of varyi...

Ordination? To become an ordained Priest in Nichiren Shoshu? You are too late. Training starts at Twelve years old, as what Nichiren Daishonin did. (Exception: Some prominent Hokkeko families send in their kids at six years old.) Not all of these priestly trainings last, a lot of them quit once they...

It is the Gohonzon of Nissho Shonin, High Priest of Nichiren Shoshu, the last remaining Joju Gohonzon granted by the Head Temple Taisekiji which is now enshrined within the Tokyo Headquarters. The expiration on the copyright ends soon, and it is one of the suspected gohonzons that Soka Gakkai will u...

OK. What would it mean for Hokkeko to achieve Kosen Rufu, per our friend gohonzon's earlier post? How would one know if this job is finally done, given the limitlessness of samsara? What would it take to accomplish this? …I understand this is a public forum and you are seeking that nauseating discu...
