In awe of nature

In awe of nature My most attuned moments are immersed in nature, centres everywhere, perimeters nowhere, breathing in endless awe and fascination no matter the focus of this thinging mind. Where in nature is your thinging mind centring? This astounding little fellow reminds me of a troupe of gracefu...

Re: Signs vs concepts

The way I’m currently understanding it and I hope to continue meaningful learning around this, the process of producing simplified representations of aspects of sensed experience, (producing signs, nimitta, tsenma?), renders these aspects available for further conceptual overlay. By rendering them av...

Re: Dzogchen and Dependent Origination

“In dzogchen, dependent origination explains the origin of ma rig pa…..”

Is it the same relational meaning being conveyed or is there a close overlap of meaning being conveyed in the way ayoniso manasikara relates to yoniso manasikara and the way ma rig pa relates to rig pa?

Re: A few Viktor Frankl quotes on despair and meaning

I haven’t read his work but it sounds interesting. Frankl identifies, despair is suffering without meaning. For those who have found meaning, I think we can also face the threat of falling into despair when we are tested by circumstance. For example, when our sense of meaning is targeted and assault...

Re: Existence-Time

Interesting conversation.
I heard someone say, the most basic experience of time is our visceral feeling of “becoming later and later”
Is this intrinsic or still a convention?

Re: What are you PERSONALLY doing about the coronavirus?

“My priority right now is just to keep myself up, and keep the people I can help up, beyond that it's all just one day at a time.” Same. We’ve formed informal support chains. I’m helping someone who has lost their partner. Another friend is helping us with some increased struggles we are facing and ...

Re: Consciousness question

“All of my sense consciousnesses seem to be detecting objects all the time. Sometimes I'm conscious of this while it's happening, sometimes not.” I’ve noticed that, depending on the favorable conditions of each sense organ being functional, each one offers an ongoing livestream of potential objects ...

Thank you!

I just want to say a deeply heartfelt thank you to all here. These are extraordinary times, and globally, many will face challenges to their very survival, physically and mentally. Many will need to dig deep for resilience, and many will need to rely on their spiritual anchoring to reach better time...

Re: Practices for epidemics and pandemics

“For those who do not have Vajrayāna empowerment, reciting the Heart Sutra with the repelling rite is effective.”

Thank you
What is a “repelling rite”?
Is there a simple one that can be offered here for those of us who have not received Vajrayana guidance?
