Cinnabar,
I need to reskin one of my damarus. What do you use to hold the skin in place while the glue is drying, and what kind of glue do you use?
You can PM me.

Re: Where to put remainders of tsok offering?
Many years ago, when my Teachers had a center in New York City, we always put the remainders in the East River. One of the students would take them at night.

Re: Seeking advice for all day mantra recitation
This is just me but, if I had a Guru Who told me to do a certain practice, then I would depend entirely upon Him/Her for how to do that practice. I wouldn't be asking others' advice on a public forum like this.

Re: Poll - ngondro accumulations in sequence? (finish one 100,000 then do next?)
Karmanyingpo, I also could've done prostrations with Guru yoga, reciting the seven-limbed offering, but I was impatient to get started and my Teacher had not yet gotten to the Guru yoga section of Kunzang Lamai Sheylung. So He let me start by saying the simple refuge prayer: Namo Lamala Kyabsu Chiwo...

Re: Poll - ngondro accumulations in sequence? (finish one 100,000 then do next?)
My experience is the same as Heart's, i.e., say the whole ngondro text every time but only count one thing at a time beginning with refuge and ending with Guru yoga. Re prostrations, I did prostrations separate from refuge or Vajrasattva. So I did count prostrations while counting other sections of ...

Re: Practical difference between Yidam practice and Guru Yoga
Guru sadhanas are for blessings.
Yidam sadhanas are for siddhi/accomplishment.
Dakini sadhanas are for prophecies and/or activities.

Re: Mipham Rinpoches Name Collection of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
After receiving the lung, you can recite any version of it you please. This total session should last 1 1/2 hours or so. Because there are so many English versions of Zang Chod Monlam, I'm now thinking of not reading it also in English.

Re: Mipham Rinpoches Name Collection of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
Is this Adam? If not, someone else has already asked that. It will depend entirely on time. Zang Chod Monlam is long, especially if I give the lung in both Tibetan and English which is what I would like to do.

Khandro Kunzang to Teach Kyed-pa Zhi Sat., Mar. 13
Khandro Kunzang Dechen Chodron will be teaching the Kyed-pa Zhi Mar. 13 via Zoom. This is about how to assess one's lung-ta (fortune), wang-thang (personal power), lu (bodily health), and sog (life-force) and how to remedy those if they are below parr. These teachings wer e imparted to Khandro Kunza...

Re: Mipham Rinpoches Name Collection of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
For those who asked me for some of the lungs discussed above, I will do so next Sunday, Mar. 14 via Zoom at 8 AM MDT (10 AM EDT). [Please remember that next Sunday is Daylight Savings Time here in the U.S.!] The lungs will include: 1. Nyala Pema Duddul's Reciting the Names of the Buddhas 2. The Bodh...

Re: Why lung or transmission is needed
Even if there are no practice commitments, taking Refuge and the Bodhisatva vow intrinsically contain commitments and there is the vow to maintain samaya, including whatever the Teacher tells you to do, at the end of every empowerment. So a lack of specific practice commitments doesn't mean an empow...

OP,
IMO, that's exactly why overwhelmingly Dzogchen is practiced in the context of the nine yanas.

Re: Are there any Buddhist doctors here? How do you balance your work/study and spiritual practice?
I was a doctor for 30 years. On the one hand, I had to make a living and practicing medicine was at least a helpful/helping occupation. On the other, it did take away from my formal practice. At times I felt quite split. However, just before I retired, I had the opportunity for parts of two years to...

Re: Can you give back tantric vows if you don't want them anymore?
Tantric vows are much, much more serious than marriage vows. Not even close. Tantric vows last for lifetime after lifetime. Talking with your Guru is, of course, good advice, IF one has a personal relationship with their Guru with whom they can have a frank, heart-felt discussion face to face (in me...

Re: Do the 10 Royal Sutras require transmission?
IMO, 1 and 10 you can read and chant without lung, although even better to get lung. The others, I'd say get the lung. Some of these appear at first glance to be sutras, but, for instance, 9 is actually a terma. A number of these come from the last chapter of the Kangyur, the Zung-du (Compendium of ...
