Re: Hello from Bali 🌴
Occasionally legitimate holders of Buddhadharma lineage pass through their but a lot of it is a spiritual shopping centre. There are a few places that might be tagged as Buddhist on Google Maps but it's usually a private family temple. You could visit the 10th century Candi (stupa) at Kalibukbu, or ...

Re: Dudjom Tersar House Sydney?
As far as I understand Rinpoche will be going from Canberra to Sydney on the 19th, and departing Australia on the 21st. There's no dharma/teaching/practice schedule for Sydney, but I could ask closer to the time if you'd like to join in any gatherings that happen?

For example, vegans can’t practice HYT, due to meat being a required sacrament, etc. It seems there are differing opinions on this from my limited understanding. I haven't taken HYT empowerment, but as a vegan myself when I came across some of this information I thought Tibetan Buddhism might not b...

Nyingma Herukas and their depiction
Hey everyone, Was wondering if anyone had any clarity on the reason why the 8 Kagye, and many Nyingma Yidams (e.g Vajrakilaya, Hayagriva, Chemchok) are depicted as larger proportioned (like Vajrapani is), compared to other deities in the Sarma: say Chakrasamvara, Hevajra or Kalachakra. There are see...

Greetings to all of you in NZ and the land of Oz (or Scotty from Marketing's paradise). How are you all doing? What have you found out about yourself through all of this and/or what are you doing to keep yourself sane? Hi! Structured Ngondro (especially during last years lockdown), reading Mipham's...

No offense to you guys but you are converts and so this sense of continuity is not in your flesh. It’s not in yours either. And we are not “Buddhist converts.” There is no such thing. Meeting the Dharma in this life is a function having met the Dharma in a past life. It’s not a genetic thing, nor i...

Re: What does Buddhism say about gender?
The stack exchange says that Buddhism says it's an illusion. Sure it is. Buddhism says that everything in the phenomenal world is an illusion. It is true, but so what? That does not mean that the phenomenal world and all the illusory things in it do not exist in their own way. During the Tang Dynas...

Re: Vidyadhara Heruka - Dudjom Lineage Tree
If I recall there is a similar figure in the Tendrel Nyesel. The "ninth heruka" is the guru Vidyadhara in many systems--for instance, Rigdzin Dupa in Longchen Nyingthik is a Guru Accomplishment--but also understood as yidam practice. How interesting, yes the same stance and Heruka style. ...

1. Does the subtle body exist conventionally? Or is it just a way to work with with our anatomy and physiology? My take: Does the nervous system exist conventionally? What about the cardiovascular system? There are both abstractions taken from viewing the body from outside, they exist in a conventi...

Re: Dudjom Tröma Nagmo ngondro
Adamantine, thanks for clarification. that's not my idea, i've been told that those whose heart practice is Thröma Nakmo has 3 vows: body - not cutting your hair, action - always remain natural and never correct the way you display yourself, mind - remain in true nature of mind. these are not exact...

Re: Dudjom Tröma Nagmo ngondro
i am not making any claims, i just thought that being Dudjom Tersar lineage holder doesn't mean one has Thröma as his main practice, does it? long hair vow is specifically Thröma vow. so my way of thinking is even if Pema Rigtsal Rinpoche is Dudjom Tersar lineage holder and coming from Dudjom Töluk...

Re: What it means to be a ngakpa
I’m no authority on this, but as mentioned earlier, there are some empowerments e.g. Vajrakilaya, Troma Nagmo that during the initiation one is ‘empowered’ to certain implements while being empowered for the practice you’re receiving. Accessories such as the striped robe, earrings, uncut hair, vajra...
