Re: Form is Emptiness, Emptiness is Form

This is the important part, Form is visible with the eye. this is not realy accurate. in buddhism "form" is defined (according to Abhidharma) as a five sense organs and their objects. this togheter with avijnapti. 9a-b. Rūpa, or matter, is the five sense organs, five objects, and avijñapti. 9c-d. T...

Re: Can you just be a Buddhist without having to be loyal to just one branch?

RIME is very nice thing BUT... well I consider myself to be rime in that sense, that I value every buddhist tradition and do not look down at any. I also read books from different tradition and teachers. But I can not imagine I can practice it all. I simply dont have that much time. So, I believe it...

Re: Im too slow at Ngongdro, help :(

In fact, ngondro can teach you also a discipline. For example, I always made a schedule for myself. When I was doing Refuge, I scheduled 250 prostration per day at minimum. It was my main concern, but I always finished the whole ngondro in each session, just not focusing on other parts for long. So,...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Folks here openly discussing issues my root guru, Master Norbu, kept firmly outside his teaching mandala. If master Norbu wanted a “Tibetan dance school and yoga tradition” then he absolutely had a Vision and reason for that. Then I see also attitude of, let’s change DC rules to suit ourselves, so ...

... a Tibetan dance school and a Yoga tradition. ... you named it very acurately!!! Im not sure, if I want laugh or cry, but you are right. The comminity should become more open and invite teachers from other traditions also That seems to me to be the best idea. There is already infrastructure and ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I'm going to have to check out. I thought maybe I could contribute something useful, but I was probably wrong, for me this is turning into airing our dirty laundry in public. If we had a private DC forum that's one thing, but I don't think an open dharma board that has nothing to do with our commun...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I’m not sure what you mean by that. As has been said above: First, the first practice in the common preliminaries is there for a reason. Death is certain, it’s time of arrival is not, so we should never wait to practice. That includes seeking out practices and teachers. Second, waiting doesn’t just...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Guys, I understand it is a bit difficult as it seems unclear how the transmission will continue, those empowered to do so don't show any interest at the moment, but what I heard from the Namkhai family was lets wait at least 3 years, not just one year, before thinking about the long term future of ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

But there are a lot of people in the DC that been teaching for decades and "lung" is normally not something requiring that the person giving it is fully realised. There are also other masters that can give direct introduction. So it all comes down to the Longsal teachings. If you have taken on a po...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

This situation is a bit mystery for me. We should pretend we dont know anything and nothing is going on. Should we wait for another year to be it official and topic for public discussion? Is this "dzogchen way" of integrating?

I have no idea what any of it is about or even that there was a meeting. lol :) well, there was a me...

As for me ... well we are here and we are qu... buddhists. I mean I get it why it is so strange to see people in zen, and stuff but zennies and their priests are rocking their traditional japanies outfists without any problem. People can practice karate, judo etc in those special clothes. Why shoul...

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!

To those of you who have taken the vows has it helped to tak them and wear the garments as a sort of reminder of your practice? yes, sure. as also Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche wrote in one of his books (I think it was What makes you Not a buddhist, or the second one, commentary to ngondros), ...

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!

I am watching this argument, and it seems impossible, largely because there are different ideas of what ngakpa means, and different identities associated with the term. 1. ngakpa may refer to any practitioner of mantra. 2. ngakpa may indicate a lay practitioner identity contrasted with monastic ide...

Re: Ngakpas everywhere!

I have never made a comment about pretence which is directed at you, or generally against wearing robes as a Ngakpa, but I'm sure if people are feeling sensitive and upset they will find something to misinterpret. My perspective defined is pretty simple: yes, directly you didnt madde such comment. ...
