Re: Kagyu Ngondro/ Dzogchen transmission?

"The receiving of dzogchen introduction is not dependent on a completion of a ngondro." Actually, teaching Dzogchen to a student without that student having completed ngondro is a minority position in my experience. So your opinion is correct in terms of some Teachers and incorrect in ter...

Longchenpa also says: "Although one might have a simple interest in this spiritual approach, the chances of having the good fortune to perceive it thoroughly are not even that of a one-hundredth portion split from a single hair. There are those who swagger in their undiscriminating ignorance, ...

Re: Cost of retreats USA vs. EUR

Three more minutes of poking around their website and I found a budget report. Just looking at the 1 year retreat numbers in that report, we see 42,231 USD expected income vs 48,580 expected cost. So, no earnings. Some of the major expenses, salary, insurance, taxes (about 16,000), meals and lodgin...

Re: Training places in the West, Free of charge

In the retreat thread 3 year retreats were mentioned. Is it true that one can not find them free of charge anywhere in the West?

This whole question leaves out the preferred lineage or teachings, of course. Just curious.

Training places in the West, Free of charge

Hello

In relation to recent discussion of retreat prices in State and Europe, I'd like to ask about vajrayana temples in the West that offer their teachings and training entirely free of charge. Are there any?

Thanks

I recall vaguely about Yudronma but am not sure, nor am I sure about the dates. What should I do?

I joined Rinpoche's webcasts several times over the years. Does this meet the requirement to purchase this book? I am not sure which lungs he gave.

Re: Dharma name

I’ve really grown to love my dharma name and would like to have a son and give it to him. Is that cool? It may seem cool but no, it isn't. I know this couple who had their first child at the peak of their spiritual enthusiasm and named their boy "Shanti" (which in my country's masculine c...

Re: three year retreat experiences?

I’m going to speak Kagyu heresy and float the idea that maybe Kongtrul’s 3 year retreat formula isn’t the best vehicle for transmitting Dharma to the West. Maybe people should learn fewer practices and learn to actually master them. Perhaps something like Ngondro, Shamans & Chenrezig. As it is ...

Not if they want to. No one can by merely wanting but because of deep devotion, commitment and practice.

However, remember that the Mahasiddha Dudjom Lingpa smoked and could exhale that smoke through the pores of His skin due to His tsa-lung practice. Even so, in His next life as H.H. Dudjom Jigdral Yeshe Dorje, He had terrible asthma as a karmic residue to having smoked tobacco while Thrak-thung Dudj...
