Re: Chod Damaru tail

For your reference, at the beginning of the Longchen Nyingthig Chod Text (Khandro Gejang), there is a passage that explains in a few sentences the meaning/purpose of each of the accoutrements for the Chod practitioner, including those you mentioned as well as the drum, khangling, small tent, khatvan...

Re: 21 Tara's - which is Ekajatis prayer?

I looked through the commentary on the Praises to the 21 Taras by the Khenpo Brothers, which has an extensive description of each of the 21, and I could not find mention of Ekajati anywhere, though a google search did say what you said. She may not be listed among the 21. Or ... could the specific d...

Re: Guru Rinpoche prayers that may be recited without Oral Transmission?

Yeshe Tsogyal's Prayer to Guru Rinpocheas he left Tibet (a terma of Pema Lingpa) is an extremely beautiful aspiration prayer. It could be directed toward any lama as it does not have any specific visualization of GR, but it's history as being from the mouth of Yeshe Tsogyal as GR was departing for t...

Re: Is there a musical transmission in Dudjom Tersar Tröma Nakmo?

I just came across a gem this evening and wanted to share: HH Dudjom Yangsi Sangye Pema Zhepa arranged to have recordings made of the Throma Ngondro, Four Feasts and the entire Medium Length Sadhana to be offered freely to students of Throma. You can find them here: berotsana.org/pages/free-download...

Re: best drubkhang

Are you referring to traditional Nyingma 3-year retreat centers that are set up specifically for non-Tibetans? The ones I know of are: Pema Osel Ling / Vajrayana Foundation in Santa Cruz, CA (Dudjom Tersar) Chanteloube in Dordogne, France (Nyingthig) There are folks on here who have completed drupdr...

Re: summer retreat at palyul

Yup, there is. Malcom, do you mean that there is a mantra accumulation requirement as a part of the Namcho tsa lung instructions, or that one must complete before one will be allowed to receive the Namcho Tsa Lung instructions in the Palyul NY or Namdroling 40 day retreat? If the latter, are you re...

Re: summer retreat at palyul

I do not believe there is a mantra accumulation prerequisite. I have not done the Palyul Tsa Lung but I did my Ngondro in the Palyul/Namcho tradition at Namdroling. I also know many people who have and none of them ever mentioned that. At Upstate NY, AFAIK, you must fulfill one of three prerequisite...

Re: Namcho Padmasambhava

FWIW, I asked my lama who lived at Palyul Namdroling for many years about this. He reminded me that in the Palyul tradition, though there are Namchoe Guru Rinpoche sadhanas, the main peaceful guru sadhana practiced in the Palyul tradition is Longchen Nyingthig (Rigdzin Dupa).

Dudjom Rigdzin Dupa Practice May 23-June 5

Dear friends, I know there are some folks on here who are interested in the Rigdzin Dupa Dechen Namrol (The Display of Great Exaltation), a special Guru Rinpoche sadhana from the Dudjom Tersar, which until recently was only practiced in the Hidden Land of Pemakod. For those who would like to connect...

Re: Namcho Padmasambhava

I looked through pretty much the entire outline that mutsuk linked, and so far as I can see there are two peaceful Guru Rinpoche sadhanas: one of them is the one I mentioned before, which is the in the form of Pema Jungne/Padmasambhava. The other seems to be in the form of Pema Gyalpo (one of the 8 ...

Re: Namcho Padmasambhava

I have a Tibetan-English-Chinese translation of a very short Namcho Pamdmasambhava Sadhana, Guru Rinpoche as the Embodiment of the 8 Manifestations. I am not sure if this is the one you are referring to. Let me know if you are interested to know more. I believe there may also be a sadhana of Guru Ri...

The Palyul centers focus primarily on the Namchoe treasures of Tulku Mingyur Dorje and the Longchen Nyingthig. Their monthly tsog practices, chod practice and other main practices come from the Longchen Nyingthig. There are several centers in Europe.

It's really interesting that several of us are becoming interested in Pekod Gyalse Rinpoche all about the same time. My root teacher is from Pemakod and spends time every year at his temple there. I asked him recently about Gyalse Rinpoche and he said he knows him very well. He mentioned his connect...

Gomthag/Meditation Belt

I know this is not a Nyingma-specific question, but most of my questions are posted here, so here goes: Is there any restriction/prohibition on using a gomthag simply for sitting more comfortably during meditation or while, doing sadhana practice (i.e., to help one sit longer or reduce lower back pa...

Re: No new Nyingma head!

I noticed years ago, after HHDR, HHDKR and HHPR, who each, held the position of head of the Nyingma school for a long time, there was a very rapid succession of Nyingma heads, who only held the position for a year or so each, it seems. Some even less time: HH Minling Trichen, HH Trulshik Rinpoche, H...
