Pictures of Home Shrines and Altars?

Tashi delek, I'd like to see pictures of home shrines and altars especially from village areas in Tibet, Ladakh, Nepal, other Himalayan areas, and Mongolia. Very interested in nomadic people's shrines and altars as well.

Re: Tashi Delek to all Sangha from Eastern Canada

Hello my new good friend , welcome to this site . I really can relate to your experience. I hope we can chat more and become friends . I also studied Islam for a short while and almost converted but since I was in high school I had a special place for Buddhism. I wanted to ask you more about why yo...

Re: Any Students of Garchen Rinpoche Here?

Thank to everyone who responded, it's great. I took Refuge Vows From Afar through Garchen Rinpoche's website, and I'm hoping to connect with more people who are connected to him. I posted this documentary on Garchen Rinpoche (recently released I believe) in the Kagyu forum, but thought it appropriat...

Re: Tashi Delek to all Sangha from Eastern Canada

Thank you for the welcomes! Welcome, Raham.karma. I, too, live in rural eastern Canada. I hear you about the lack of local practitioners to meet up with. It's not just covid. It was like that before. I read your other posts, and you will be fine. Just keep on doing what you are doing. Om mani padme ...

Re: Altar Without A Statue

No problem. In fact, the Buddha was not really fond of statues and for a long time he was represented by a wheel or a set of footprints. Thank you for this, I didn't know that! The Japanese (who are also known for very small homes) have a thing called a butsudan which may be what you need. Thank yo...

Tashi Delek to all Sangha from Eastern Canada

Tashi delek, thank you for accepting me to this forum, I started following dharma 2 years ago. I was Muslim for 20+ years (I converted at 16), and have lived in India, Bangladesh, West Africa, the Middle East, and various places. 2 years ago, after a very long crisis of faith, I had a dream of Chenr...

Ah, yes, but more I mean is a person free to decide something like this and just do it? Forgive me, maybe it is a dumb question, but I literally don't know and I just want to do things well, ha!

Altar Without A Statue

Tashi delek, I'm asking if it is ok to have a home shrine that doesn't have a statue, thangka, or picture of the Buddha or any deity, rather just the offering bowls, butter lamps, etc. The reasons are a few, but I'm mainly afraid that some guests I may have over may insult an image of the Buddha. I ...

Re: New To Buddhism

The teacher thing will sort itself out, I recommend that you absorb a lot, read, study and reflect. Also keep an eye on your wallet. Spend wisely, ask here about material to purchase and make wise and informed purchases of materials. I donated lots of dharmic books to the local library... It might ...

Re: New To Buddhism

I'm no teacher, but I believe Chenrezig is so fine, when you're attracted to it already. What a blessing! A transmission will pass your way, I truely believe. I think it's amazing, I recite 100 mala a day because I read the virtues associated with it from Lama Zopa Rinpoche, I love it a lot.

New To Buddhism

Tashi Delek, I'm new to Dharma, for about 2 years I've been doing shinay meditation (I received teaching from a Shambhala instructor) and I love the practice. I do it a solid 2 hours daily and have been for 1 year and a half. I also recite a lot of Chenrezig mantra daily, but because there aren't an...
