Re: Practicing without empowerment
Certainly that is so. And to be full of enthusiasm and goodwill is always a good thing. We are all making our way like men in the dark feeling for a wall. Teachers are a great blessing. They can throw a switch for lights to come on when we are ready to listen to them. We have so many ideas..we all d...

Re: Practicing without empowerment
With all good wishes you need to study some basic Buddhadharma. You would not then use terms like The Absolute which the Buddha explained carefully are not compatible with his Dharma. We live in difficult and confusing times. There is a temptation to create our own dharma in place of the Buddhas Dh...

Where abiding in the ultimate might be something along the lines of Vimalakirti's silence... And any movement from that space of the absolute, using any words or anything at all, would be ...

Where do you live? I live in California, willing to relocate anywhere in the world for the right teacher Moving should not be necessary! You live in an area where Buddhist teachers of all kinds are to be found although caution is needed, they are not all reliable. There are Buddhist schools which d...

Re: Practicing without empowerment
I think the best thing to do would to be to listen to a Realized Teacher about Empowerments, and practicing with them, or how much work one needs to do to have one, and if one can’t, due to circumstance, still wanting to do the practice, what to do then. Because our Teachers are there to guide us t...

Re: Practicing without empowerment
Is there a Teaching about the various Bodhisattva Vows carrying over? Because not every Bodhisattva can be born into a situation where they can formally take the Vows again under a Teacher sometimes, but according to the needs of the living entities, the Bodhisattva comes. This is true for Avalokak...

Re: Practicing without empowerment
It doesn’t. There might well be a karmic connection which carries the person towards a particular practice and results in them rediscovering a past link. But they will need a fresh Empowerment from a lineage holder.Könchok Chödrak wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 6:12 am Is there an official Teaching for how Empowerments from past lives carry over?

Intentionality ..cetana in Sanskrit sem pa in Tibetan is the skandha most operant in creating karma-vipaka. We have no choice but to act. But we can keep our actions in line with good intention. This is most likely by developing compassion and Bodhicitta. Cetana is not a skandha... maybe you are th...

Re: Mahayana Sutra of Consciousness Revealed
The Sutra says consciousness is neither dirty or clean, I think, it’s just karma...not a part from our functioning aggregates. I don’t know. It’s too confusing. Make it simple! Well certainly I am confused. Are you saying that consciousness is karma? No. Why? So if ‘it’ in that sentence is not cons...

Re: Does a Vegan Damaru exist anywhere?
Part of the respect for the practice and lineage is to practice the method on its own terms and not to project ones own values of how one thinks it should be upon the tradition. There is a reason why the materials are made the way they are, rest assured, the animal whose leather gets used for a Dam...

I think you are making a basic misunderstanding of the practice here.
Perhaps your teacher could explain the doctrine why you will not find one.

About being born into Buddhist family.. one of my teachers said, more or less..”No one is born Buddhist, and no one is born into a Buddhist family..if our karma is right we meet Dharma. If not we don’t”...something like that.

A possible problem...a biophysicist friend tells me of worries that cells grown without a immune system built in...and obviously in laboratories that is what you have, could be a perfect medium to transmit viruses unwitting.
