Re: Namkhai Norbu lineage

Hunters after a hunt. I’m gonna be honest with you all. It’s a scam. You see here’s the thing. First you have to lay the ground work, Spend years prepping. Then after you have folks on the hook, that you got the chops to present in a authentic way the teachings.... Then cash in. If your paying atte...

Re: Best way to sort e-library

Well you could create a Tibetan sub folder into a kangyur and a tengyur.
The Kangyur would be pretty straight forward,
But the treaties or tengyur would then have to branch into school specific sub forums. Is a big task.

Re: Public Highest Yoga Pujas

Is anyone who hasn't received instruction on how to do the visualizations and other practice instructions really even going to know what's going? I think many centers (my own included) have these as open to the public to participate so they can start to form a connection with the center and lineage...

Re: Ngondro as a complete path to enlightenment

can one simply stick with ngondro and a "light" practice such as Chenrezig if the lama approves? Of course. It's all up to you in that respect. I disagree with this sentiment. The intent of liberating sentient beings, the body is the path of the channels, the mind is the traveler Along the channels...

Re: Ngondro as a complete path to enlightenment

Did not know it was so ambiguous Well, two things really. First is it’s up to folks to understand what it is, study, reflection, correct view etc, it might read as not that important, But if we don’t have an understanding of what our particular individual situation is, why we are doing what we’re d...

Four truths

Since the creation of Five poisons, it’s antithesis is five wisdoms. If it stands that five poisons are created, it follows five wisdoms are also created.
Dzogchen is not putting five things down and picking five things up....

Re: The Orgyen Nyendrup lineage

Don’t matter..scrub that.

I don’t think this will reconcile an answer.
It might fuel a logistical sectarian lineage feud.
At the End of the day, kalachakra is kalachakra no matter it’s decent into the Saha world system called “endurance”.

Re: The Orgyen Nyendrup lineage

Thank you for your reply Malcolm. Thank you also for your hard work translating this monumental text. So it is still a living lineage? Perhaps I am doing something wrong but I can find no information to that effect on the Internet. Are you aware of any links, etc. that would provide a brief overvie...

Re: Number of mantras per day

Try 108 first thing in the morning - literally as soon as you wake, then 108 at lunch time, and 108 before bed.
That’s 324 for the day, for the week that’s 2,268
For the month thats 9,078. For the year that’s 108, 864. Not bad really, of course if circumstances allow.

There are ways to practice in a more essential way and go straight to the self generation but you need to receive those instructions first.
So its a go and ask your teacher kind of thing
Hi tata, sorry are you referencing myself or the OP?

Re: Using Portions of a Sadhana

So I learned (and have the proper transmission for) a certain Tara Sadhana from Tara Mandala. There's a refuge vow in it that I find inspiring. Can I pull this or other parts out and use it as part of my practice? Yes, refuge and bodichitta prayers are universal, there’s no issue with that. What ab...

Whether experiences are for the individual and not shared or for the individual and shared,
They are just that, experiences.

Re: Decreased interest in Tantric practice

There are practices that can refresh ones practice if you feel it has gone stale. We all get those from time to time, In a general round about way, it’s probably due to unbalanced energy and these practices can harmonize those.

Re: How is shentong different from tirthika doctrine

It’s called the four way Mula way of arguing. But is still a “view”, a philosophical position. No, it's the "refraining from any view" which is at the heart of Madhyamika. The "fourfold reasoning" (Tetralemma/catuskoti) has been around in Inda even bevore Buddhims. (As far as i know it has been use...
