Re: Namkhai Norbu lineage
I gave another student of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu a lung of a Longsal text. We both have received DI but only I have received the needed Longsal transmissions. The said person was very much interested in practising on the basis of this Longsal teaching but didn't have any option in DC. Then you have ...

Re: Namkhai Norbu lineage
That said, even when Rinpoche was alive a direct answer about what DI authorized vs. what required lungs was not initially easy to find, the DC was not gooñd about clear presentation of things like that, from my point of view. If they had been I think there would be less ambiguity today. I had to s...

Re: Can you just be a Buddhist without having to be loyal to just one branch?
RIME is very nice thing BUT... well I consider myself to be rime in that sense, that I value every buddhist tradition and do not look down at any. I also read books from different tradition and teachers. But I can not imagine I can practice it all. I simply dont have that much time. So, I believe i...

You can receive teachings from anyone you like and your root Guru is something you discovery, not something you choose

Re: Non-exclusivist independent Nichiren Buddhism
Problem that arises is how one interprets the idea of what Nichiren Shonin was conveying. What and where is his anger directed at. I say anger cause that’s the tone of the interpretation So like is it Buddhism He attacking and calling it mixing. How would Nichiren Shonin detach himself from Buddhis...

Practice what you can daily, listen to teachings from teachers you find inspiring, try to receive teachings from them and dont over think.
Re: Rebirth
Hello all - Is anyone else interested in Vajrayana but have trouble buying the concept of rebirth? It wasn't so much an issue when practicing Soto Zen or even Theravada, but with Tibetan Buddhism rebirth seems baked right into it. I love the practices, the teaching, etc, but it's very hard at this ...

Re: What's working with a main guru like?
Im not trying to discourage you from asking questions but maybe you can balance your approach with a more relax kind of thing. You wont figure out everything from the start and then jump into it. Even if you tried everyone's path is different and even if there might be some general guidelines everyo...

Re: Using Portions of a Sadhana
Yes, refuge and bodichitta prayers are universal, there’s no issue with that. No, I would follow the sadhana here, because it has been prepared and is connected with the specific transmission you received, that’s what your working with, the transmission. There are ways to practice in a more essenti...

Re: Using Portions of a Sadhana
So I learned (and have the proper transmission for) a certain Tara Sadhana from Tara Mandala. There's a refuge vow in it that I find inspiring. Can I pull this or other parts out and use it as part of my practice? Yes, refuge and bodichitta prayers are universal, there’s no issue with that. What ab...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
This thread has actually descended into idle gossip. I feel like Malcolm is probably right and we have pretty much done this to death. Since this is an omnibus thread, I'm gonna ask that everyone just take a bit of a break for now. I feel like everyone (including me) got their say, and we should pr...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
I always find these statements about the DCs lack of transparency a little strange. I certainly agree it could do with being more so, but very few organisations are particularly good at transparency, and Tibetan Buddhist sanghas some of the least of all. I actually find the DC to be more transparen...

This hit me hard. Without Rimpoche but with Elio around i was a little at ease.
