Re: Tibetan or English?

I attended a retreat offered by Sangye Khandro (a Western Dudjom-lineage lama known to many). She stated that the Troma Cho melodies themselves are terma and thus the most important part of the practice to maintain--that she hadn't heard of an English version which maintained the melodies as reveale...

Re: Cost of retreats USA vs. EUR

I was part of a sangha for a long while (Soto Zen affiliation) that didn't charge at all for retreats/sesshin (or anything, for that matter.) Half of the participants would make a donation, while the other half were essentially subsidized by the general flow of dana that would come in from the Sunda...

Re: Why don't "enlightened masters" work together?

Trungpa Rinpoche was quite close with Shunryu Suzuki Roshi while the latter was alive. There was immense mutual respect, and for some amount of time, Suzuki Roshi’s image was enshrined in Trungpa-lineage centers with the lineage masters. Suzuki Roshi was once seen setting out CTR’s shoes. Questioned...

Re: Katsu?

My experience in zen is irrelevent as for the confusion such videos make. As for Sogeji roshi I guess he approved however certainly he does not read this forum neither is probably not aware of the confusion it makes on this forum. And there is beyond any doubt that dokusan is a prvate matter not pu...

Re: Katsu?

for the reason of extremely stupid commentscoming out of ignorance and basic misunderstanding it is why such things should never be open or disclosed to public... I won't claim to be free of ignorance and know that my comment is just addressing the surface of what is happening in these interactions...

Re: Katsu?

I'm probably not the best person to answer this, but I've known a few people who practiced at Sogenji. Trainees go to the abbot several times a day to demonstrate their realization of their koan. This is a common way that realization gets expressed (particularly so, I imagine, when language difficul...

Re: November Nyingthig Yabzhi in Santa Fe

Thanks so much, Sherab, for the encouragement! It's quite meaningful, as it feels a bit at this stage like I'm launching into space, just following whatever clues I can find. It's good too to hear that Sangngag Rinpoche is open-minded and, it seems, quite willing to work with people where they are. ...

Re: November Nyingthig Yabzhi in Santa Fe

Ask away :) Wonderful. I've been feeling my way into Dzogchen for the past year or so after a much longer involvement with Zen. My only formal connection thus far is with Dudjom Yangsi Rinpoche after receiving empowerment during his recent visit to Oregon. In looking for the next step forward, I've...

Re: November Nyingthig Yabzhi in Santa Fe

(Periodic lurker checking in.)

I'm planning to attend. I'm a relative beginner, feeling drawn toward Sangngag Rinpoche. If anyone here is his student or has received teachings from him, I'd appreciate the chance to ask some questions.
