Re: Om mani padme hum

Sorry for the typo.

Can you chant it soon after you wake up in the morning? Or you have to brush your teeth, taking shower, etc. first? Can you also chant it when you're not wearing clothes?

Re: GMO and right livelihood hi all,

I was told by a Buddhist monk that there is a reason why Buddha prohibited five livelihoods. We should not change the list just because some jobs are harmful. Buddhist teaching is about non harming but I was told that if the food contains GMO it's not wrong livelihood because it's clear as you alrea...

GMO and right livelihood hi all,

Hi all, It's clear. Buddha said there are five trades are to be avoided by lay people: business in weapon, human being, meat, intoxicant and poison. We should not change this list according to our taste. But Buddha teaching is about compassion and not harming others. GMO Food is said to be harmful b...

Most enlightened teachers have some contradictory in their teaching or realization. Maybe because it's based on (their) reality rather than books.

Re: Great Compassion Mantra

When you want something badly, and you have hope and faith, our mind can create an illusion in order to meet our expectations. Our mind is very powerful, what we put it into it will manifest. Have you read a true story where a voodoo black magic victim was cured by a doctor who employed psychologica...

Re: Om Mani Padme Hum

Nobody knows whether it is fire in literal or figurative sense. But I believe both fire and afflictions are mentioned in sutta. Some sutta also mentioned those who chant particular bodhisattva name will be protected from thief, fire and other calamity. Nobody knows and no one experience it. Some peo...

Re: Om Mani Padme Hum

Ok, thanks for your reply. Does anyone have any experience to be shared for your Dharma friends (kalyanamitra)? By sharing and learning from each other hopefully at least our faith is strengthened. It's said if someone chants some sutta s/he won't be harmed by fire. Is this only a myth, a psychologi...

Re: Om Mani Padme Hum

Thanks guys for the long reply. The question is what is the real personal experience that you had (if any) in real life, sorry if I'm not clear enough? Lots of them, but we are encouraged not to cling to them. I have been engaged in Chenrezig practice for years though, and unsurprisingly, it helps ...

Re: Is Vajracchedika Prajna Paramita authentic

Generally and ordinarily speaking I haven't found a claim that says Vajracchedika is a original teaching of Buddha. Please correct me by referring me to a credible source. Looking at the many Mahayana Sutras such as mentioned above, Surangama Sutra, etc. I personally feel invited to know more about ...

Is Vajracchedika Prajna Paramita authentic

Hello guys,

As the title says, does it come directly from the Buddha himself or from Tripitaka? AFAIK, it is composed later on by Buddhist monk, maybe influenced by other teaching / faith or religion. Does anyone have any thought?

Re: Well Known Thai meditation monk confirms existence of Amitabha's Pure Land.

Hey Guys, Just thought I'd post this here as I thought it'd be of interest to some. I've been living in Thailand for 5 years and have studied Theravada, Mahayana, as well as Tibetan Vajrayana. I've sought the advice of many Theravada monks in helping me to improve my practice of meditation. It's be...

My last best research was it is unknown, or someone in East Asia composed it. Does anyone have better answer? Thanks

Re: Karmic cause become gay

What’s to elaborate? It’s like asking what karma makes a person left handed rather than the opposite, right handed. Every being trapped in samsara is driven by the same passions. The only difference is in the body part. Why does one person like to read and another person likes to hear music? Eyes, ...
