Re: Alan Wallace: Dzogchen, COVID-19 & the prophecy received by Dudjom Lingpa

https://media.sbinstitute.com/courses/dharma-talk/prophecy-received-by-dudjom-lingpa/ Therefore, he urges those who can commit fully to such a path to do so, and those who at the moment cannot, to support those pursuing this sublime state of realization. This last point resonated with me. Can anyon...

Re: First rate translators in non-English European languages

It seems my question was not clear. I am aware there are existing English translations of the texts I mentioned, but there seems some debate as to the accuracy of the translations. From forums here and elsewhere I have read that new translations are being prepared for some of these texts and I assum...

Re: First rate translators in non-English European languages

May I ask if having an effective English translation of the 17 Dzogchen Tantras, or the Yeshe Lama, is expected to facilitate western students to obtain total transmission of these teachings? I ask because I am aware that some of the presently available translations are fairly widely circulated outs...

Re: Inexpressibility and Precious Word Empowerment

When one has the direct experience of realization, all those quotes about inexpressibile, inconceivable make sense, absolutely. The difficulty arises when one uses the ordinary mind, with ordinary logic to attempt to make sense of the statements. A closer read of your quote actually reveals this. Th...

Re: meet the old masters now, before they're gone

In the spirit of this thread, I share this. How I met with Namkhai Norbu, as a teacher. In about 1995, my son age 16+ announced that perhaps he should become a buddhist monk. This was surprising, as he was not buddhist, although I had been following Tibetan buddhism for many years. I then was lookin...

This has been widely available in the file sharing community for many years. There is a series of these videos from the same source which are shared. I managed to purchase a few while still available, many years ago. The quality is rather poor, but the contents are great.

I would also like to contribute, if that is possible.

Also : Gidi Ifergan - The Man from Samye: Longchenpa on Praxis, its Negation and Liberation (2014).

Maybe they will be helpful for you.

Re: Dzogchen // Middle Way

Perhaps this quote from Longchenpa helps: I apologize for the lack of indent. I cannot find how to implement it here. The Verses of Longchen Rabjam Enlightened mind is naturally, primordially pure. Within reality itself, there is no sending off or leaving be, no coming or going, there is no accompli...

Re: What is Dzogchen?

My understanding of the dzogchen state is that it is beyond concepts, so clearly is not reached by arguing over the definition of words. I came across this short verse which seems helpful with this, for me: Concepts We know hot, because we know cold, We know weak, because we know bold, We know low, ...

Re: How do we know our practice is working?

My experience with dharma practice has been to fall into different stages with somewhat of a shock. The results always needed sometime (like months) to assimilate. This gives time to consider how my view up to then needed to be recalibrated, to more accurately incorporate what is true. This is an or...

Dear students of Chogyal Namkhai Norbus' teachings, I don't know much about Buddhism, but I am sure, that Namkhai Norbu was a big teacher with a lot of knowlegde and that he brought much inspiration to the ones, who listened to him. I have a question and it shouldn't be disrespectful regarding the ...

the names of the masters are written on the thangka.
so we need only a higher resolution for making a key....
The names are in Tibetan, yellow or gold colour, but not clear enough to read. I doubt a higher resolution image is available.

Re: Receiving both Buddhist & Bön Dzogchen teachings?

My experience has been in Buddhist traditions first, through Gelugpa, then Nyingma, then Dzogchen and Namkhai Norbu. By then I realised the rime (rimay) tradition appealed to me most. With my exposure to Bon teachings, I found the different deities, lineages and whatever all served to add confusion,...

I have it on good authority Eric Fry-Miller has re-emerged and may begin to fill book orders once again. He has been in retreat, overseas. He has plans to alter the site, so this may take some time.
