Re: Garchen Rinpoche - Hevajra Empowerment and 4 Dharmas of Gampopa
Many thanks everyone for this most interesting discussion. I'm still wondering if anyone has a link or a source for the Hevajra sadhana linked to this empowerment? Thanks. Thashi delek to you all! It will be a truly wonderful occasion indeed. Furthermore, I also would like to know that is there a s...

Re: Enlightenment in a Pure Land
Compared to Sukhavati how hard is to be born in Guru Rinpoche's pure land? Is there some kind of 'list' or 'lists' for the needed qualifications to be born in Zangdokpalri? Is getting enlightened possible there? In a teaching awhile back I asked this question and the answer was 1 million Guru Rinpo...

Re: Enlightenment in a Pure Land
Thanks, very interesting. Any clue why the 'OM MANI PADME HUM' is better facilitator to Guru Rinpoche's pure land than his own mantra? Anyway: 'OM A HUM VAJRA GURU PADMA SIDDHI HUM' It is often considered that Amitabha, Avalokiteshvara, and Padmasambhava are the three kayas, so not diffe...

Re: Enlightenment in a Pure Land
Aside from the vivid descriptions of various pure lands are there any delog revelation in relation to the neccessary qualities for entering into them? There are mentions here and there, but these are not necessarily definitive statements I suppose. For example. from Dawa Drolma's "Delog": From the ...

Re: Enlightenment in a Pure Land
Tashi delek to all! I am really enjoying the scholarly side of this dicussion and already learned a lot from it, but I had no intention starting a thread where the Tibetan pure land doctrines clashes with the equally respectable East-Asian teachings. I feel we are intentionally or unintentionally lo...

Re: Enlightenment in a Pure Land
We can reasonably assume Vajrayana is not practiced in Dewachen because the sentient beings that are born there lack sex organs. The necessity for sexual organs seems to apply only in the context of particular classes of tantra and/or schools. Gender differentiation applies In all four classes of t...

You are correct. If my interpretation of the Aspiration Prayer of Samantabhadra is correct not one but an infinite number of Buddhas fill even an infinitely little space.PadmaVonSamba wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 4:25 am You can’t fit an infinite Buddha within a finite space.

Re: Enlightenment in a Pure Land
you are learning from the Dharmakāya itself... This isn't possible. Only buddhas can perceive the dharmakāya. Not even tenth stage bodhisattvas can perceive the dharmakāya. And, Amitabha's buddhafield is most certainly a nirmāṇakāya buddhafield. This means that the Buddha's statement in the Lanka a...

Re: Enlightenment in a Pure Land
Tashi delek! Which Pure Land is the best place to get enlightened? And also: why Amitabha's Devachen isn't suitable for this purpose? Thanks ab What makes you say it is not suitable? E.g. Lama Yeshe: "If we are born in the pure land of Vajrayogini, then we can definitely achieve enlightenment there...

Re: Wrathful/fierce deity's iconography
Thanks a lot for the help. So tusks, that was a lucky guess. I have heard about the four mode of laughing, seen the wave-like tongue of the deities on thangkas and watched a couple of bollywood movies depicting Kali in her bad hair day. Still don't know how the tongue is moved threateningly. Any fur...

Re: gektor colors and ornaments
Looking at the video, Lama Tharchin's gektor is one of numerous variations (that I have seen) on this general idea. If one doesn't know how to make a specific torma, one can always use a cookie or small cake or even just a small plate or bowl of rice. It is the visualization that is most important....

Wrathful/fierce deity's iconography
Tashi delek to y'all, I would like to ask you about two iconographic aspects of some wrathful deities: 1. What does the expression 'tongue threateningly moving' means and how it is visualized in sadhanas? 2. What is the meaning (symbolism) and function of the colored ball-like-objects and white 'fan...

Re: Chod phowa and lifespan
I try to rephrase and expand the question (in this time not excluding other forum members). So, what makes the difference between the lifespan shortening and non-lifespan-shortening versions of phowa? Thanks.
