It is through taking pleasure in space that one understands all the doctrines.
Fascinating. What does it mean here?
I guess the space here refers to the Dharmakaya of the Buddha which is nothing but the nirvana itself.

Sutra on Manjushri's Questions

Mention of mindfulness of the Buddha meditation and its merits in The Sutra of Manjushri's Questions. At that time Mañjuśrī addressed the Buddha: World-honored One, there are buddhas who exist in other buddha lands. Some of those [gathered] here would like to see these buddhas. Re: Is the Pure Land an actual place?

Yes it is a definite place like our Earth. Buddhist sutras describe planets and worlds system apart from our Earth where different types of living beings exist. Our Earth is one such planet where the Buddha Sakyamuni was born and attained bodhi. There are also such planets like Sukhavati where there...

Buddha Mindfulness in Theravada Buddhism

Vissudhimagga states the benefits of recollection of the Buddha as follows : When a bhikkhu is devoted to this recollection of the Buddha, he is respectful and deferential towards the Master(Buddha). These are some lines from The Sutra on the Ocean like samadhi of the visualization of the Buddha. Re: Please help...

The main two practices in pureland Buddhism are reciting the Buddha's name and reciting the Amitabha Buddha's spiritual Mantra(Dharani)

I guess by chant you are referring to the Dharani of Amitabha Buddha which is in Sanskrit

Here is the English translation

Re: A Butcher Lays Down His Knife and Becomes a Buddha

Interesting fact: some later sectarians misunderstood this story and spread the rumor that ShanTao himself fell off that tree, and did so purposely, committing suicide. Indeed so, In this dhamma ending age many people try to degrade true monks and master and spread rumors without knowing any actual...

Re: Worry and incarnational faith

Christian god is nothing more than a diety in the desire heaven and hence is still stuck in samsara, no matter how powerful he is. Being heaven it is impermanent and subjected to change and decay. Even gods in heavens die and are born in hell and other realms. So even if a person by practice and fai...

Re: Refuge

It is sufficient to declare that you take refuge into the triple jewels. Pureland practice does not need any special rituals or text. We just need to believe in Amitabha Buddha's vows and with a faithful mind should continue to recite his sacred name in order to be born there. Namo Amitabha Buddha! ...

Re: Five refuges?

I guess people do this out of faith, hardly there is a difference between 3 or 5 refuge. Sukhavti is pureland because of Amitabha Buddha and his great Bodhisattva sages staying there. When we take refuge in the Buddha, we take refuge under the tathagata Buddhas of ten directions of past, present and...
