Re: Goodbye

Risking censure for meta-discussion, let me just say that it is well worthwhile debating with Malcolm, especially when you're certain you're right. In general, when someone has an aversion to entering a discussion with another person, it 9/10 indicates a deep emotional conviction that the person fe...

Re: Is NMRK the definitive Buddhist path?

This is why I don't bother to argue with either Malcolm or DGA they don't know Tiantai/Tendai philosophy and repeatedly refuse to learn any Japanese intellectual history. Since at least 2000 it's been understood in the academic community that there were no 'sects' in the Kamakura era, rather it was...

Re: The Mahayana Is Not Diluted Theravada.

No. This four yanāni business is wrong speech born of misunderstanding. The LS, like the Buddha, teaches a one vehicle path. Not two. Not three. Not four. If the three are provisional, and one definitive in which you termed "Buddhayana," are you not proposing a fourth yana? Nope. No fourt...

Re: The Mahayana Is Not Diluted Theravada.

And therein lies the controverted point: is the Mahāyāna the ekayāna? When I read the LS, I see three provisional paths outlined and one definitive path. The three provisional paths being pratyayasaṃbodhiyāna, śrāvakayāna,& bodhisattvayāna. I see one definitive path: buddhayāna, the ekayāna, fo...

Re: Is NMRK the definitive Buddhist path?

Close your eyes. Take deep breaths. Relax. :coffee: Do you really think that comment will have the effect you nominally intend? actually i took it at face value, like Malcolm is not going to answer it :coffee: As pointed out to me off site, he just did that and used the opportunity in discussion wi...

Re: Monastic Tibetan Buddhists Fear Death More

Ekayana in the Lotus means that even when the Buddha teaches the the three vehicles he is actually teaching the one Buddhayana. Those on the sravakayana are taught arhatship and are aiming for arhatship; pratyekabuddhayana are aiming for pratyekabuddhahood; bodhisattvayana are taught a particular i...

Re: The Mahayana Is Not Diluted Theravada.

Is your understanding of Ekayana that the other two vehicles lead to the Mahayana and then Anuttarasamyaksambodhi? Or that all three vehicles lead, eventually, to Anuttarasamyaksambodhi? Sorry if this is 'off topic' in the thread, recognizing of course the broad scope of this thread. Mahayana (whic...

Re: Awakening kundalini?

Kundalini is an inquenchable Fire, my advice is get enlightenment first then if you still want to awaken powers, etc. plus it’s not exactly a safe thing to do. It has symptoms identical with serotonin poisoning. Google that while you look up this topic. Anyway why bother, you can open Dharma Eye an...

Re: Awakening kundalini?

Prolly got a bad rep here but I really need to ask this question. I was visiting a man who is physicquie and he tells me I should attain kundalini ( which I have found a center for it ). Well , it is a Hindu center that teaches it so I’m not sure if it is ok or not. I read and saw that kundalini ca...

Tibet is not an independent country anymore, so it's no longer like that. Gelug is still popular among the diaspora because of the Dalai Lama, and I think inside Tibet too.

Yes, a bit of a rhetorical question. Without Madhyamaka reasoning, reifications just proliferate and get ridiculously out of hand.
