Because that snippet has been interpreted in so many ways.
It's one of those rare one-off quotes that has been picked upon, and misunderstood, forever.

Until you have read and understood the Canon I think it is best not to take up that quote.
Not to mention the fact that it is an obvious argument starter.
No, you will not find anything here to prove your point, so don't try.

It is not a problem, but it is not for beginners.

Hello all,

Lots on ''Luminous Mind'' in the 'L' subsection of the Files section of Dhammastudygroup. The Link works for me, and I hope it works for non-members also:

'Luminous Mind' ? - see also 'Hetu', 'Nibbana & Parinibbana'

The going for refuge is the door of entrance to the teachings of the Buddha.

I think you are too generous Tilt..it IS Hinduism...Its precisely the kind of doctrine that the Buddha was undermining and correcting.
The going for refuge is the door of entrance to the teachings of the Buddha.

It must have been clear to you when you posted Dan74 that your interpretation does not accord with the Theravada view. And is in fact explicitly denied by mainstream Theravadin thought. I find it hard to believe that you have forgotten the debate the last time you raised the same issue.
So when you chose to air it on a Theravada forum what was your motive ? Is a mission to the benighted ? Did you think that there has been a major revolution within the Theravada in the last few weeks brought about by having our dim eyes opened by visits from Mahayanists .Are you at a loose end ? Or what ?
The going for refuge is the door of entrance to the teachings of the Buddha.
