Based on the link above, does anyone (preferably if you are a member of the Amitabha Buddhist Society or its associates) know why is the Elder Master wearing Tibetan Mulasarvastivadin robes? I am aware he had a Tibetan Vajrayana Mongolian guru, the Ven Changkya Khutukhtu but his ordination is from the Chinese Dharmaguptaka back in Taiwan as I recall...

Those are water crystals from Emato's 'research'. It's rather unfortunate that a number of spiritual people take the findings seriously, considering that the whole affair fails to meet scientific standards.

i am not surprise, as he support multiculture and deeply respect Vajrayana and not to mention other religion. or perhaps it's a gift. so to show respect, he wear it on that particular session.

there is some TCM idea here, like how our emotion can effect our physical health. like a person who are angry often is no good to the body.

Thank you sinwei but maybe you might also understand another concern where these days Buddhist Traditions are very sensitive (at least in my country) about cross robe wearing especially when we live in an age where many questionable groups use and wear Buddhist robes (which are easily available in Buddhist bookstores these days) without proper Vinaya lineage authorisation and acknowledgement not only to confuse people but to mislead them...already as one example, there are some syncretic Daoist-Buddhist groups who simply cross dress in either a made up colorful or an actual Buddhist kasaya with Taoist robes, especially seen mostly in Taiwan, HK and Singapore... anyway, I was just curious as to why the Elder Master wore that as he had always consistently portrayed himself (at least in robes) as within the Chinese Mahayana fold...

right. could be only for that particular session or special occasion. the rest of the time i never saw him dress it, i mean as a "permenent" dressing. your country as in Malaysia?

Sinwei, is that real? I heard about that idea before but i dont know if there is any scientific validation on that. It would be amazing if so.

simple, when the mind is pure the land is pure.

Suffering is created by our own actions or karma – it is not given to us as a punishment. We suffer because we have accumulated many non-virtuous actions in our previous lives. The source of these non-virtuous actions are our own delusions such as anger, attachment, and self-grasping ignorance.

Once we have purified our mind of self-grasping and all other delusions, all our actions will naturally be pure. As a result of our pure actions or pure karma, everything we experience will be pure. We shall abide in a pure world, with a pure body, enjoying pure enjoyments and surrounded by pure beings. There will no longer be the slightest trace of suffering, impurity, or problems. This is how to find true happiness from within our mind.

i think should be believable. Old Master Chin Kung ever when to meet up with Emoto and actually witness the experiment. Then he told him don't just try on sight, sound and thoughts. can even try experiment with taste, and smell. or using not just water. perhaps an apple or rock, (maybe rock need more time ).

remind me of the chinese Buddhist story on the nodding rock 点头石.

i think even now, people still have the issue and disbelieve, due to the level of understanding.

During the time when the Mahaparinarvana sutra was only been translated first half of the potion, Ven Zhu Dao Sheng, presented a Buddhist saying that not only does sentient beings have Buddha nature, plants and minerals also have such (Dharma) nature. Ven Zhu Dao Sheng understanding is actually in the advance state. This is his idea of Oneness. All is One and One is all. However all the buddhists of the world said he is Waidao(Externatism). As long as they are not said by Buddha or just a different word away from sutra, they are all Externalists and that one's saying is mara saying. really just relying on words to see the meaning, Buddha of the three period of time also felt grievance.

Zhu Dao Sheng felt unjustify and no way to vent his grievance. so he went to a mountain site in Su Zhou province, and start presenting to a rock. After the presentation, he asked the rock if he's right. Suddenly the rock nodded. Zhu Dao Sheng is right.

if one have a chance, one can go to Su Zhou province to see the nodding rock. this story is for us to show respect not just to sentient beings but also to non sentient beings.

在竺道生那个时代，大涅槃经只有上半部，下半部还没有翻译出来，他当时发表意见说，不但众生皆有佛性，器世间的一切（植物、矿物）也都有佛性。竺道生这个人的思想是超越的，他主张一元论，说佛性是一切，一切都是佛性；当时佛教中的人说他是外道，凡不是佛说的都是外道。这真是‘依文解义，三世佛冤’，你若按照文字来解释佛的意思，过去、现在的佛都会喊冤枉，为什么？因为他不是那个意思！又说‘离经一句，即同魔说’，你说的跟经上不一样，你就是魔啊！

竺道生一肚子委屈没地方宣泄，就跑到苏州虎丘山对著一块石头发表演讲；讲完了还问石头：我讲的对不对？那块石头点了头，这是点头石的由来，各位有机会去苏州观光时就可以去看看这块‘点头石’。这个故事说明蠢动含灵都属于我们尊重的范围。

on a more Buddhist teaching regarding Karma as intention even toward a piece of paper can result in karma.

One instance of intention is one instance of kamma. When there is kamma there is immediate result. Even just one little thought, although not particularly important, is nevertheless not void of consequence. It will be at the least a "tiny speck" of kamma, added to the stream of conditions which shape mental activity. With repeated practice, through repeated proliferation by the mind, or through expression as external activity, the result becomes stronger in the form of character traits, physical features or repercussions from external sources.

A destructive intention does not have to be on a gross level. It may, for example, lead to the destruction of only a very small thing, such as when we angrily tear up a piece of paper. Even though that piece of paper has no importance in itself, the action still has some effect on the quality of the mind. The effect is very different from tearing up a piece of paper with a neutral state of mind, such as when throwing away scrap paper. If there is repeated implementation of such angry intention, the effects of accumulation will become clearer and clearer, and may develop to more significant levels.

Consider the specks of dust which come floating unnoticed into a room; there isn't one speck which is void of consequence. It is the same for the mind. But the weight of that consequence, in addition to being dependent on the amount of mental "dust," is also related to the quality of the mind. For instance, specks of dust which alight onto a road surface have to be of a very large quantity before the road will seem to be dirty. Specks of dust which alight onto a floor, although of a much smaller quantity, may make the floor seem dirtier than the road. A smaller amount of dust accumulating on a table top will seem dirty enough to cause irritation. An even smaller amount alighting on a mirror will seem dirty and will interfere with its functioning. A tiny speck of dust on a spectacle lens is perceptible and can impair vision. In the same way, volition or intention, no matter how small, is not void of fruit. As the Buddha said:

"All kamma, whether good or evil, bears fruit. There is no kamma, no matter how small, which is void of fruit."[3]

Its seems that Mr Emoto is highly criticized by scientific community. Also, Global Counsciousness Projecto seems to be not a real thing when other scientists analised the data.



Its a shame because it would be great if one could prove that mind can affect water structure or even global events

i watched this National Geographic's Dog Whisperer and actually saw the energy of Buddhanature in the dog. what kind of energy they prefer is close to Buddhanature or pureness. they can sense such energy Natually. the energy that is positive are conviction, loving kindness, calmness and the energy that is negative to them are anger, fear, troubled etc. these are all pick up by an animal! interesting.
