Does it really matter?

Some statues for bathing the Buddha have the right hand pointing to the sky while some have the left hand pointing to the sky.As far as I know, its the right hand but does it really matter?

Getting ready for the first "Bathe The Buddha Ceremony" at our center on 5 May(it is supposed to be today actually) .The left hand still bothers me a little.

Well put Dechen Norbu but I'm alone here making preparations for our first ever ceremony. The Guru and all the other members are in some remote part of China for the time being and will be returning soon.This is the only statue that I could lay my hands on in this remote part of the country.Thus it bothers me a little.In the past, we have been going to other centres a few hundred kilometres away to celebrate Vesak Day.

When you are looking at the statue, from your vantage point, it's the right side hand which is in the air anyway! Anyway, there are more important things to consider about the statue, like the fact that your statue is naked (unlike the other two pictures) and you can see the Buddhas penis!!! Oh my goodness!

That part would be taken care of later but was he born with clothes on? I just assembled it,tested the pumps, lights and steam that comes out.Everything is working and I just took a photo of it.

Then my dear Nirmal there is absolutley nothing wrong with your centres beautiful statue! I sincerely hope that the ceremony goes well and that all the practitioners at the centre quickly realise their true nature!
