Help with Dzambalah praise (tibetan)

byang phyogs skyong ba'i mgon po dza b+ha la

In the dictionary I find for 'byang phyogs skyong' "Vaishravana", so I would translate that line as "The protector of Vaishravana is dzambalah" or because it is a supplication " You are the protector of Vaishravana", but judging the content I have some doubts. Isn't Vaishravana seen as a worldly god? Would it not be the other way round?

mgon po / nātha does mean protector, but in the sense that a lord or king protects his subjects—it doesn't (necessarily) imply subordination. "Jambhala, the lord of Vaiśravaṇa" is the most natural way to read the phrase.

The relationship between Jambhala and Vaiśravaṇa is confusing. Vaiśravaṇa is simply a synonym for Kubera ("the son of Viśravas"), and from a historical perspective it's likely that Jambhala is just the Buddhist name for Kubera. But most sādhanas distinguish Jambhala and Vaiśravaṇa, and will place one in the retinue of the other.
