Looking for a book recommendation

Postby Bonsai Doug » Tue Mar 27, 2012 1:50 am

I have a book, almost written like a text book, on Buddhism from the Theravada tradition. It covers
things like karma, rebirth, nibbana, the Perfections, etc.

What I'm looking for is a book that presents these kind of teachings from the Mahayana perspective.
Or at the least will give me a basic overview of the Mahayana school of Buddhism; kinda like a primer of sorts.

Any recommendations will be appreciated.

TIA

This Friendly Letter text by Nagarjuna was used as a Mahayana primer in ancient India:

The Foundations of Buddhism by Gethin is not strictly about Mahayana but will give you a good understand of general principles. Another excellent general survey is Buddhist Religions: A Historical Introduction by Richard H. Robinson.
