Could I have some insights into this teacher please.

An event invitation has been posted on another forum, but this forum has many more people who may know about him, and I suspect it won't be long before we have the invitation posted here. The event mentions a fee but the website has no fee information I could find.

The invitation reads thus:

I have asked for reports from oncologists which confirm the ability to cure cancer etc.

I have asked for details about transmission of Tantra being taught.

I have also asked for information on fees. $3m for a single project points to great wealth:

The website has no information at all on fees, so let's see what you get at the advertised event:

''A transformative 3 day Maha Meditation class, taught by Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi, suitable for beginners or experienced practitioners.''

What you will get in the class includes:

Mantras and mudras.

A 'transmission' of energy.

A 'secret code' which 'unlocks the potential' for self-healing.

And possibly 'miraculous'recovery from serious mental or physical illness.

Due to words like 'potential' and 'energy' and 'benefits can vary...' the publicity is very clever in not actually promising anything at all - which is possibly what most will get.

Here's what I have asked elsewhere, and I don't mind if the answer is made here:

Was the $3m dollars accumulated through teaching Buddhadharma for a fee? I hope not.

Which lineage declared him a 'Holy Master' and which Vaja Master transmitted the mantras and mudras to him ?

Finally, please answer my question about his healing powers - evidence from a properly qualified oncologist after proper research is acceptable, anecdotes without proper specialist medical examination are not.

You seem shy, as your teacher claims these powers, to declare him to be a living Buddha, and explain how you are able to recognise him as one. And please avoid the technique of quoting how he is a Buddha and can cure cancer because a disciple said so.

I'll be most surprised if we do not find that there is no evidence backed by proper medical research. By now, your teacher would have received huge international acclaim if there was, and cancer services worldwide would be hugely transformed.

Equally, if a disciple calls their teacher a Buddha, it is not evidence which stands up to scrutiny - can he display omniscience, maybe?

I understand that it is hard to see what is truly happening in an organisation whilst within it, but I urge you to seek appropriate advice.

I write out of compassion, so I truly desire what is best for you, and also best for anyone reading such publicity. I can't declare your organisation a cult and cannot declare your teacher a fraud, and it would be wrong to attack your path, but I think if you arrive on a forum to publicise your Master and take no part in the rest of the forum, the least you can do is answer a few simple questions.

The Bon religion is literally the source of everything we see in Tibetan Buddhism; the style of dress, ceremonies, and ritual equipment, etc. The vast majority of the dieties worshipped in Tibetan Buddhism, and in particular the wrathful protector dieties, were grandfathered in from the Bonpo. It can eve be accurately said that the only thing that Guru Rinpoche really changed about the Bon religion when he founded the Nyingma lineage, the first Tibetan Buddhist lineage, was that he added the Buddha as a principal diety, thereby establishing the Buddha as the most powerful Shaman in Tibet. Of course, the Buddha was also compassionate, unlike many Shamans, but that’s not what we primarily see in these stories.

The emboldened parts are direct quotes, claims of a Living Buddha etc etc. I'm guessing that by starting a new lineage he doesn't need to establish any prior lineage as any authentication. Ho hum.....
