Did I say there was something wrong? I merely suggested that you read it since you said you haven't. :juggling:

To practice is to know your defilements,
To attain the goal is to know and let go.

Surely for there to be ignorance, there already has to be consciousness - a mind of some kind that is ignorant.

*IGNORANCE*

[volitional] formations arise from ignorance
consciousness arise from [volitional] formation
name and form arise from consciousness
sixfold sense base arises from name and form
contact arises from the sixfold sense base
feelings arise from contact
craving arises from feelings
clinging arises from craving.
becoming arises from clinging
birth arises from becoming
decay and death arise from birth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So "I" somehow became *Ignorant* because of attaining "Saṅkhāra" =

Saṅkhāra;
1.FREE WILL/Deteminations
2.Conditioned things
3.Mental formations.
4.Volitional formations
5.Kammic/action formations
6.Literal English translation of Saṅkhāra - "That which has been put together"

"That which has been put together" arises from "Consciousness and Name & form". Not one of the first 5 translations in these translations.

Therefore, what confused me was one of the many translations involved. Ignorance arises from "That which has been put together" from "Consciousness and name & form" and vice versa.

You'd think they'd have a footnote in there or something :D

However, now my question is "WHAT WAS FIRST IGNORANT AND HOW CAN YOU BE IGNORANT WITHOUT CONSCIOUSNESS?"

Correct me if I am wrong. I know nothing. I am ignorant.
