Mendicant concensus ?

How many buddhist monks, nuns, yogis and other kinds of mendicant are there in buddhist countries? How about their numbers in nonbuddhist countries?

There are (in Thailand) five monks and novices for every 1000 people today, compared with 11 in 1980, when the governments began keeping nationwide records.
Government figures put the number of monks in the country at 290 000 last year, but Phra Paisan said that Thailand, in fact, had no more than 70 000 full-time monks.
