Hi

Post by Mojo »

I'd like to give a shout out from Ottawa, KS - a small town about an hour south west of Kansas City, where its quiet and one can find a church on every other street corner, but where the closest Dharma gatherings are about a half hour drive north in Lawrence, home of the Jayhawks.

I currently sit for twenty minutes in the mornings, though I'm not a part of any particular Buddhist sect. I am however finding myself rather drawn to Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings and explainations of the Boddhisatva ideal.

Welcome Jon!

Yo dude!
"All phenomena of samsara depend on the mind, so when the essence of mind is purified, samsara is purified. Since the phenomena of nirvana depend on the pristine consciousness of vidyā, because one remains in the immediacy of vidyā, buddhahood arises on its own. All critical points are summarized with those two." - Longchenpa

Namaste, welcome to DW, Jon.

My first direct experience with Buddhism was also through the teachings, talks, and literature of Thich Nhat Hanh. Looking forward to your posts!
