It makes one extremely inspired by Rinpoche and teaches profound truths about Dzogchen as well.

I met someone awhile ago (at the ling I go to) who said their original introduction to the teachings happened when they were visiting Hawaii and were hiking through the jungle in the middle of nowhere and came upon a old broken down rusty car. They opened up the car and looked through it and nothing was inside so they popped the trunk and opened it up and the only thing inside was the "crystal and the way of light".... Wild.

Could be that someone with clarity left it there. I remember walking in Thailand once and I happened to have some Enlgish Dharma books on me. Out of nowhere this really strong impulse to just leave on on a bench for whoever might find it came over me. I told myself it was a silly thing to think that someone who might actually be interested would find it there, but the feeling was soo strong! So I left it there. Who knows what happened...

Probably nothing but hey.

someone once stole a copy of Buber's "I and Thou" that I left on my airplane seat. when i came back it was gone, but they had left untouched Rist's book on Plotinus. I absolve them of their bad karma and hope the book blew their minds.
Thoroughly tame your own mind.
This is (possibly) the teaching of Buddha.

Yup.
Single best publicly available Dharma book in the English language in my opinion.
"All phenomena of samsara depend on the mind, so when the essence of mind is purified, samsara is purified. Since the phenomena of nirvana depend on the pristine consciousness of vidyā, because one remains in the immediacy of vidyā, buddhahood arises on its own. All critical points are summarized with those two." - Longchenpa

Since when are balls profound?
Aren't they simple and naturally occurring?

Makes me want to buy a few copies of crystal and the way of light and leave one of each in a random obscure place to be discovered by someone someday... Plant a few seeds. I'd feel like a low grade Guru Rinpoche hiding termas. They'd have to be some asinine weather proof spots, the kinda place where if someone found it they'd know it was left for the sole purpose of being discovered.

That would be fun too. Get a few copies of Crystal, go into Starbucks and see who is reading. Wait for them to go to the restroom. Swap the book and leave.

Have to admit though, even though I am not a groupie, The Crystal and the Way of Light blew my mind!!! It changed my opinion regarding Tibetan Buddhism completely.

You sure he wasn't talking about Pete Shweddy's famous Schweddy balls?
